BA cadet scheme

Hi,
have been researching around but can't seem to find much info with regards to the BA cadet scheme.Has anybody heard whether BA has any intentions to re-start the scheme in the next couple of years as the baby boomers retire or has it been quietly dropped for good?Any ideas on the number of applications and available spots?
Thanks a lot,D10

It died on 9/11 and there is no news of it restarting..... only easy offers some kind of a financing sponsership...

I have no particular knowledge of this issue but I just thought I'd pass on something I was told by some "London Airways" guys the other day.

The retirement surge, caused by the Hamble entrants all reaching 55 the same day, will only last another 18 months to two years. After that back to the normal rate.

The cadet scheme really covered this period of increased flight crew retirement. The Flight Deck requirement has also contracted recently with cutbacks at LHR and LGW and the whole regional operation effectively disposed of to BACX.

I just can't see how BA could justify opening up another cadet programme for the foreseeable future. Although they have done stranger things.

Hi D10,

I was wondering the same thing and thought I might give them a ring to find out. If you ring first let me know what they say.

Best of luck

As BA hasn`t really hired anyone from outside the company since sept 11 as it has concentrated its` efforts on downsizing,so i can`t see sponsorship offers for the foreseeable future. All the BA cadets who were in flight school training when sept 11 happened only got into BA a few months ago, although i believe most,if not all, took up offers to fly for BA`s fully owned BACX airline.sorry the news isn`t better for you.
