@ Climb Under Read

- That's all well and good for the cadets, but can any light be shed on those who merely only do the 36hr AQC with all previous training done elsewhere!

- My genuine query is how many AQC candidates get interviews with partner airlines?
Historically speaking (3+years ago) your chances were quite good. Today your chances are nearer to zero. It looks like CTC cannot sell these types of candidates (apparently) to the airlines any more.

In short it is a gamble with the odds stacked heavily against you. If you have the cash to burn I'd say go for it but otherwise stay away. Unless of course you can still do the CTC modular program, those folks are getting interviews.

If you go remember to ask "what about the 90 guys & gals that are going to be flushed from the ATP hold pool to make way for us in the next couple of weeks?, will that also happen to us?" and wait to hear the very well orchestrated answer....it will be learnt verbatim by the sales staff and you will walk away like lemmings saying "wow I must do this program, that's not going to happen to us".

Remember BA, Monarch & easyJet do not take on "non CTC"(i.e. CPL/IR elsewhere apart from OAA & FTE) ATP folks, CTC will say that eJ do but they don't (well according to my contact at eJ they don't anyway, they would simply take from OAA)....so who else is there???

Finally don't get sucked into the "looming pilot shortage", there isn't going to be one, has never been one and will never be one. The industry trains way more pilots than required and has done for many, many years. Check your own CAA stats and you will see that even though we've just had the biggest recession since WWII trainee numbers didn't reduce.

It couldn't be said better from you guys...Your comments are absolutely true and somebody has to do something to stop these kind of crazy marketing schemes that are only trying to ruin our careers and life.

I also got an offer to join the ACQ course as an outsider candidate because as they said self-sponsoring a TR is not something they recommend and it is a risky project. Of course there are good and negatives to self sponsor a TR.

They do not recommend self funding a type rating unless you have the promise of an airline job including aircraft base training and line training.

None of the airlines they deal with will take on a newly rated self funded pilot with no experience on the type and it can be a very expensive and risky project.

But I cannot just sit waiting in a list until i get a placement with an airline anymore.
This is for me the riskiest part of the whole idea.

With the ACQ course my skills are getting rusted and outdated while waiting for my turn to come.

On the other hand i did my MCC two years back and my skills needed to be refreshed a long time ago. Imagine doing the ACQ and as a non-previously CTC customer having to wait God knows for how long until a finally get a job.

ACQ is not an efficient way and is definitely a no go for me for the reasons explained.

I think, this scheme will end soon and if not it will possibly end up only being available for CTC modular students who have no other options except for paying CTC more money.

Vipersrt10 11th May 2015 15:52

I can personally confirm that easyJet took ATP pilots last summer and last month once again!

theiceman747 13th May 2015 01:31

I also got a AQC invitation which I declined.. they are a bunch of b*******

Almost 10k€ (i think it's close to 10k now?) for a MCC+JOC and "placement".

From what I read, there is no placement with any airline if you are a non-CTC candidate is that correct? (with non-CTC i mean you have not done your whole training at CTC).

OK and then, something i didn't know... you stay on the holding pool for 2 years whilst CTC cadets get interviews and you wait for your turn, and after 2 years if you were not lucky to get an interview they just kick your ass? haha what a joke.

A final question someone can answer, if you are on the holding pool.. you sign some kind of loyalty to them? that is you can not get/search anywhere else because you are on the AQC holding pool or you can? I ask because this kind of 'loyalty' contracts are sometimes weird, maybe it's a stupid question as i suppose you can search elsewhere as much as you want while you are on the AQC pool but i needed to ask.

Knew a mate who was on the pool, he was waiting for 2 years, don't know what happened to them.. i'm curious if he got his ass kicked-off the pool.

CTC only wants (your) moooooooooney.

ATP guys were invited for easyjet selection couple of weeks ago.

flyingbonnet 7th Jun 2015 01:10

Attended the course not so long ago.
Been offered two airlines so far, with more coming up some time (hopefully) soon. Fair amount of ATPs placed with EZY or other carriers. All the holding pools are expected to be near empty by the end of the year, if not before.

If you want my opinion, worth it.

John Dexter 7th Jun 2015 07:12

Well there appears to be some positive news here about the course so I contacted my friend who has been in the "pool" for ~3 years.

Her perception is somewhat different to the other recent posters.

She has been told that the ATP program will most likely close again soon as CTC have way too many ATPers and even normal Wings cadets and won't be able to place them.

The reason it was opened again was due to the Ryanair partnership which CTC anticipated would empty both pools quite quickly.....this has not happened. In fact far from it. Most Wings cadets are turning Ryanair down and a lot of the ATPers have already attempted an interview with Ryanair or also turned them down.

She has heard a few more CTC modular guys (these are the Wing Take-Off folks) have been sent to easyJet but doesn't know of a single standard ATP person getting an invite. Basically she has been offered the opportunity to send her "interest" into CTC for the Ryanair or flybe programs and that is it. Unfortunately she couldn't apply for Ryanair again and has been waiting to hear back about flybe since last year.....without any update.

On the plus side she does know a few ATP guys getting into Ryanair this year. A bit of an expensive way to get an interview which you can get yourself anyway!

@flyingbonnet. My friend is very interested in your situation as she has always been told you can only go for one airline at a time and all other applications would be cancelled or put on hold at that time. Are you saying that you have been offered 2 jobs (i.e. successful at interview and have contract in hand)? Or have (like her) you been offered the opportunity to register your "interest" in these airlines...quite different?

CTC Wings ATP Scheme (Merged)

I can validate what John Dexter's friend has stated. Just invitation for expression of interest for Flybe and Ryanair as far as ATP are concerned. Been in the "database" 5 years now.

theiceman747 8th Jun 2015 15:04

I suppose you did not understood my words, @john_smith

I'm just giving AN ADVISE for anyone thinking about going for the AQC Course so they can know before hand what they will face if they choose to go. Not moaning about nothing, just posting my opinion by real experiences.

I'm just posting some information i know from fellow pilots colleagues who have gone through this course in the past, not whining and moaning about it, OK?.

And as far as I know, I know at least 2 guys who did the AQC and are still waiting on the pool, and there a lot of people on this thread posting their personal experience about the AQC course, there's a lot of example of people that have been waiting 3, 4 or 5 years in the holding pool. So that's only TRUE information by real experiences about this scheme, which by the way it's the REAL TRUTH, no the "truth" the CTC sales folk will tell you before enrolling about getting a job in a short period after finishing the AQC (not true).

If you have completed the AQC and have already a job in the airlines who work with CTC, then good for you, but it's not the general trend.

Finnsch08 16th Jun 2015 16:49

Hi Guys, Ive read most of the last post about the CTC ATP scheme.

I am attending the assessment (the step before AQC) on 16th of July. Is there anybody else going? And is there anybody who can tell my something about it? I have no idea what will happen....

Thanks.

Hey folks did any ATP swimmers attend the presentation yesterday by David Froggatt from easyJet down at CTC?

Would love to know his take on the hiring potential in the near future.

Would appreciate any info from ATP or Wings guys/gals.

Cheers

Latest news from the hold pool (as a wings cadet), Ryanair and Flybe are recruiting every month. EZY have only got 4 more assessment days between now and the end of the year. Not sure on FR requirements but flybe require 90% ATPL average, no reapplications to either. No other airlines actively taking from the pool at the moment. Rumours of BA taking wings cadets again very soon, but not much else for ATP'ers from what I hear beyond the aforementioned two.

portugueezer 13th Jul 2015 20:16

( very slightly off topic but..)
I've just finished the GroundSchool with a > 90% average and am currently looking for training providers for the ( Modular) CPL/ME/IR & JOC/MCC

CTC do see to have that advantage regarding the FlexiCrew Pool and their relationship with Easyjet, a company I'm seriously interested in working for.
However... I'm 40 years old.....

Does anyone know if this is a well know show stopper for EZY ? If anyone has any concrete examples in either direction, it would be greatly appreciated !
Many thanks

HeartyMeatballs 13th Jul 2015 21:01

I wouldn't let your age deter you too much. I often see fellow two stripers late 30s/early 40s who are doing training. They're very much the minority however they certainly don't seem to have a cut off. What I don't know however is if they're direct entry experienced FOs.

Bloated Stomach 4th Sep 2015 17:45

Trust me. Don't bother.

ctc Atp scheme

Hi guys, I've received invitation from CTC but don't know what to expect.
Someone had been there for the selection as a qualified pilot ?
If yes, I would love to have your feedback .

I've read all the comments about the holding pool etc... so sad to hear that !

Be positive guys ! the career will come to you soon.

jolimp 29th Oct 2015 13:42

Onisar,
