Frozen ATPL's any good for work in Spain?

Does anyone know what the job situation is in Spain, does it pay, and how do I go about finding out about it?

Thanks in advance

Jobs in Spain

Are there any operators in Spain hiring non-spanish pilots with JAA licences?

I grew up in a Spanish speaking country so am naturaly fluent in the lingo. I also hold fATPL etc etc, and have tried several avenues to getting a job in Spain, but have come to the conclusion that the only way you are going to get one is if you know someone who'll put you forward. Fullstop. I stand to be corrected, but that's what my enquiries have revealed sadly.

Hopefully a bit more helpful than thge above.

The couple of Spanish flying instructors I worked with in Jerez were all of the opinion that their indiginous airlines hiring practices were incredibly opaque.

It seems ones Father already being a Captain in the company was a distinct advantage etc.

I was approached by a Spanish fATPL holder at Bristol the other week asking if the airline I fly for was hiring. I asked him what the situation was in Spain, his reply was the Spanish invented the phrase "it's not what you know, it's who you know".

You need someone with "enchufe", who is plugged in, and he will be your "palanca" or lever, to get what you want.

There is a thread on these lines running on the Spanish language forum.

Hey,

Might be possible trough Denim Air in Holland. They are hiring people for the F50 and Dash 8 ops of Air Nostrum.

They hire about 4 to 8 new Fo's per month.

Iberia only has two non spanish pilots- one is mexican the other is of south american origin i heard.

Similar story in Air France and Alitalia I guess.

God bless the EU.

Joke in Spain:
Why is Iberia like God?

The sits at the right hand of the father.
