Easyjet
So does anyone know what the situation is at easyjet? Is everyone still on part time contracts? What capacity are they working with now compared to pre COVID? With Ryanair talking of recruitment, do you think easyJet will be thinking the same?
Nope. Sorry to say no recruiting at this moment. It's rather a bleak situation at the moment but of course that may change but like the weather. Unpredictable.
In the UK there is an industrial agreement with BALPA that no external recruitment will happen before all UK pilots have been offered a return to their original contract. In the EU redundancies have only just happened in some bases. There is an awful long way to go yet before external recruitment can happen.
Thanks, do you know if the process of offering original contracts has commenced?
It has not and may not for sometime. Anyone finishing training now was fed a lie.
As I understand it the company are currently working out if they may be short of man power vs their autumn / winter plan, as many part time pilots will be disappearing for 6 months as of October / November. Decision later this month. Obviously all subject to constant change.

easyjet holding pool
Hi There
My son finished his training at CAE eighteen months ago and was on the easyjet MPL course, due to start with them just as covid hit , he has done his touch and go and got his license but is in the ( holding pool ) waiting their next move, I think it could be a long wait |
Im sorry to hear he was so close to joining, however I would imagine he is in an excellent position when easyJet begin recruiting externally? Throughout the last 18 months, although no one has joined the company, its sure that some would have left (retirement). Some EZY pilots would have also got the taste for part time possibly? With all this in mind, and maybe a little forward thinking from easyJet, it might not be too much longer for your son. I have my fingers crossed.

No PT's have been offered full time, and I can't see it happening anytime soon.
I know several who do not have a single flight or very marginal number of flights for August and September. The end of furlough agreement could spell more bad days, before it gets better. Impossible to predict anything at the moment. |
No return to full time at the moment. Decision to be reviewed October. My thoughts are that 2 bases still vulnerable. Glasgow and Liverpool. Not helped by governments myopic travel restrictions. I also foresee more seasonal European bases servicing uk regional airports due to much simpler EU travel rules.
This situation is down to UK Government policy. Remember “Global Britain”and “we’re open for business “, well we’re not. |
Rumours are that some UK bases are offering 100% contracts again and EASA holdpool cadets have been contacted regarding potential starts dates in Europe. Is anyone able to confirm this or provide any update of the situation at EZY currently?
Certainly in the UK some pilots based in MAN and BFS are returning to 100% contracts. But total numbers wise it’s a small percentage of the UK workforce. A long way to go yet until all pilots are offered 100% (the trigger for when recruitment can start again in the UK).
I’ve seen some activity on Linkedin regarding EASA cadets having positive news for EU bases, so seems the rumours are roughly correct. |
No recruitment allowed in Italy, France and possibly even Germany. They might need someone in the seasonal bases in Spain and Portugal, but very little numbers

Nothing official from Flight Operations yet on winter planning levels. So just a rumour l am afraid. |
Things moving forward here now. Expect things to improve vastly next year.
Care to expand a bit more on that?
More part time captains have been recalled onto full time contracts. easyJet know that there's a fair percentage that have found part time is rather nice. Therefore, there should be some upgrades coming up in the UK next year. I don't know what's happening in the EU/Swiss side of things. :)
All UK EZY pilots to return to full time or 75% contracts by April 22 with cadets joining from the beginning of next year is what I'm hearing.
All UK pilots returning to the contract of choice by April 2022, thereby opening the door to recruitment in the new year. Certainly cadet recruitment sounds like it’s going to restart as well as internal command upgrades.
Does anyone know what numbers they will be recruiting in? And if they are recruiting externally or just MPL cadets?
Any updates from anyone ?
No exact numbers given the recent doom-mongering from SAGE and our government morons. Union have not been given solid figures for S22 so nothing to pass on. A few command courses have been given start dates in March, mainly those who had theirs cancelled last year. For the UK it will be cadets only, no external recruitment at all. For EU bases I'm not sure, someone better informed on that can give an update.
Hi All, anyone has information regarding the NTR frozen ATPL cadets? I know easyjet will fill mostly from their MPL scheme but can they feed the hall network? Like in europe the bond or self funded TR scheme will return like before covid, or even in the UK?
Thanks for any info |
Stop paying to work! Jesus Christ.
I already payed a lot to get until MCC. Now i should wait 2-3 years for airlines to start bonds and paying for TR again? I know this is the right way, but it is very hard after the money, time and hard work we already put in there.
Unfortunately I think its unlikely they will take NTR from outside of their own hold pool. There are lots of cadets from the ATPL/MPL schemes and with restarting the CAE EZY scheme it would appear that external recruitment is unlikely.

easyJet stage 3 interview
Hi there,
I am sitting my stage 3 assessment soon, I'm wondering if anyone who has sat it can give some tips or advice on how the day goes, and what the interview is like. Many thanks |
