RAF Pilot vs NATS Air Traffic Controller

I got through the last batch of NATS intake in May 2019, and I am expecting an offer any time now. I also have an application with the RAF on the go, mostly just to try my luck. I’m through the interview and CBAT, but still medical, fitness and OASC to go. Any advice on which I should go for?

Significantly more money and sooner with NATS...which you could use to get a PPL/IR to fly for fun.

Yeah I think the main drawback of RAF currently is the length of the training period. Have been told best part of a decade for fast jet atm.

If you are asking the question at all then I don't think you are what the RAF are looking for in a pilot and I say that with complete respect for all our friends in ATC wherever they may be.

YOU decide. Do you want to be a pilot or controller because the jobs are totally different?. I never had a desire to fly but wanted to be an ATCO. I was lucky - I did the job I wanted.

You need to want to be an RAF pilot 100%, or else you won't make it through the training.
