Where is the answer ?

Hi everyone one , ;)
I am gonna share my Experience and story here . Please help !
when I was a kid I always stayed back of window and watching planes taking off from the runway I was maybe 8 years old and that time decided to be Pilot like most of you guys.
i grew up with deep depression since I Experienced my parent divorce when I was 6 . But my sister was the reason of my happiness and I survived!
I grew up ! After graduation from university I joined to Iran air Cabin crew training And right away I left to philippines and got my pilot license , CPL/IR/ME. And luckily got some few hours experience on king air B200 , Came back to my country and applied but no job for fresh graduate young guy as expected. ( note that it’s different fate for female fresh graduate pilots this days :oh: )
Summer 2015 I got 3 offer from
1- Vietjet Line training cost 45k EU + job
2- Cebu Pacific A320 Type rating only for 32K! USD + Maybe there is job
3- Air Arabia from alpha Aviation (MPL) and they don’t recognize your license you will study with them zero to hero and get job on A320 for 150K USD.
I choosed the second one and paid 32 K for type rating and went back home for 8 months and then they call me for interview. I passed the interview ( happiest night I ever had)
i sleep with smile on my face and woke up next Morning found my smile is still there .
But happy days not take too long you know .
cebu pacific asked money for everything. I were current when I passed and got contract but they charge me for Recurrence 5500 USD. Charged me 2000 USD for work permit ,and not paid my sallary completely. Whatever! Passed all standardization sim training and passed 2 sim check and after 6 month of paper work I fly the aircraft for first time .
During my under supervision flights I got autoimmune disease and that effected my kidney and I didn’t know it , my last flight was with chief and I had low performance and he send me to simulator again and I put wrong approach in mcdu and I got failed , in contact it was mentioned trainees could fail 3 time and they will have 3 chance but they terminate me in same day after my first time ever failed in sim! ( got my termination text from phone at 1 AM in bed )
i left philippines and tried to convert my pilot license , I work as uber driver because my only skill was flying aircraft, and no one out there have aircraft in their garage and they don’t want pilot. I save around 35000 USD to go for Line training and buy my job but every offer I found is above 50K USD
pilotjob website and brokers mostly are scammers or they not share true information to you ,for example I’ve been told from 3 Agancy for long time that Vietjet payment is pulse 110 K i have been in Ho Chi Minh last April and directly talk to airline and they require 75 K USD only :ugh: . I have been jobless for this 3 year and all I did was converting license and Recurrent my A320 rating , I tried to go for Flight instructor life but there is still lack of job out there but I may try it anyway. What’s is your suggestion dear friends ?
Pray for me
best regards.

Sorry to hear about this. I’m just curious, what organisation was the Cebu type rating through?

they call it PAAT training center , when you go there they will inform you we will not give any promise for job but maybe in future Cebu call you or Maybe not .
They charge A320 type rating for 35 K USD this days it’s too much for type rating .

First of all I hope your are now ok with your healt ! This is the most important thing.
Then I would say that you are much more experienced compared to most of new fresh pilots, so it shouldn't be so difficult to find a job.
If you already have a type rating I know some good hour building programme, without salary but also without costs.
If you are planning to stay inEurope, there a lot of opportunities, especially in the A320 !!

Hogos 31st Jul 2019 10:51

Maybe you can try with a licence conversion, or much better an endorsment, because here in Europe lots of airlines are recruiting with only 200h on the airbus

That's a good point, as you can find out in this forum the situation in Europe is pretty good.
I can mentions some vectors looking for A320 already TR pilots:
-Eurowings
-Easyjet
- Wizz Air
- Volotea
-Avion Express
-Pegasus

And if you are think to have another type rating (without further costs):
-Air Baltic
-WDL Aviation
- Loganair
-LOT
-Flybe

etc. etc.
(little OT: even if things went not as planned, you are anyway a professional pilot, and nobody should be disappointed about this)

A320sharklet, you've certainly been through the wringer! Life must have something special lined up for you if you are able to overcome those difficulties. The RAAF motto is instructive - Per Ardua Ad Astra - Through Adversity To The Stars. The important thing to remember is that the only way to the stars is through adversity, and that's because adversity makes us stronger, better, smarter, wiser. Confucius gave some great advice too - He Conquers, Who Conquers Himself. Good luck.

Getting an EASA licence is a great expense and if you dont have EU citizenship you have zero chance of getting a flying job in Europe,Only 1 company here in europe will take zero hour on type and they are not taking any at the moment as far as I know.I did something similar after flight school I did my Instructor rating,2008-09 before I finished I got job on Caravan in Asia via a friend recommending me.One year later I left due bad conditions and pay.Spent a couple years looking for anything without even a chance of Interview,(1100 hours total at this point)
I renewed my Instructor rating and spent 2 years instructing part time ,keeping current and meeting alot in Industry ,I did the A320 rating (2017)without any gurantee of Job,and as with you there was nothing at the end except paying off alot of debt for a useless type rating.I couldnt apply for rated positions they required 500 on type,I couldnt apply non rated as the type rating was on my licence(although I tried)
,I finally let my A320 expire and under EASA it goes on back of your licence so i could apply for non rated again, through Instructing another Insructor put me forward with ATR company which bonded me on type, now with 500 on type and command offer with the company,I have alot more opportunity,
So far my journey has taken 11 years,I ve had some of my students less than half my age finish training with me and go straight into right hand seat 737/320's but I'm happy for them and as a second career I expected aviation to be alot more difficult to progress for me.
I would recommend Instructing, keep current make contacts, within time more options will come up,.
From collegues I know who got into Cebu the open days seemed to be key but generally expect the A320 rating to be dead money and write off the debt as bad investment as I eventually did.
Good luck with what ever you decide
