Funding for integrated ATPL
I've just been accepted onto the easyJet tagged ATPL at Cae Oxford and am now struggling to find all the funding .This question may have been asked before but does anyone know of any routes for funding In the UK?
The loan would need to be £100k frozen for 18 months I have roughly 4 months to secure a loan .Thanks in advance |
In all honesty, there is not much you can do unless you qualify to apply for a BBVA loan (if they still exist, I heard they closed their London branch down this year or last). No bank in this day and age will give a loan for that amount unless you own a property. Saying this, do not get a loan for that amount. It is ridiculous. Your credit rating will be destroyed and it will take you at least 10 years to repay with the interest added on top. You want to know how I did it? Europe. East. Far East. You want to know how much for? £25,000 from zero hours to fATPL. So why does L3 and CAE charge ridiculous fees? To keep the pockets of their staff well lined! The son of the owner of one of the FTOs you have mentioned works as a SFO for a low co apparently. Maybe ask him how much he paid for his training! And they promise you with a job after? A well known lo co have announced a matter of weeks ago that they will NOT be taking any cadets on from L3 and CAE for 2019. I thought L3 had really strong connections with this low co? |

Easiest way would be to win the lottery. Otherwise you're going to have to start borrowing from Family or using savings. You can try to get a loan but I'll be amazed to see you get any more than 50k. Don't even consider crowdfunding! Seriously, CAE have failed you here, how on earth did funding not get discussed in detail before being accepted onto the course, many pass the aptitude tests (which they profit out of) but the real test is stumping up the cash. They should have provided you with every option before you started getting serious about it, I commend you coming onto here to find a solution but it shows that still, nobody addresses the elephant in the room- funding, you should take that up with CAE formally. Best of luck, I hope you are thrown a lifeline but you may find that you have to alter your route to go modular like many of us, there's no shame, you end up with the same licence and often the same job. PPL Flying Scholarships for 2019 are open now, I suggest you apply assuming you are eligible, if you are unlikely to raise 100k. Happy new year and all that. |
To answer your question I`d have to say `No`, planesandthings speaks the truth. Come and join us on the modular path, it`ll save you a fortune and you`ll probably have more fun- maybe throw a tailwheel conversion and aerobatics rating into your hour building! Do what you feel is right/possible by yourself, parents, and own family in a few years time whilst enjoying the journey, spending less, and looking past the shiny brochures.
