L3 Aviation Instructor Programme

Hey everyone!

A long time lurker here but fortunately I decided to post.
Brief introduction: Completed my ATPL almost 3 years ago with 91% average Groundschool, no fails and still have a valid SEP/ME/IR.
Haven't had the opportunity of being even offered a position at any of the major airlines in the UK, as I simply havent been called or contacted by any of them.
Had two offers outside the UK, both for B737, but unfortunately they were P2F and I don't have 30,000EUR laying around.

Recently I completed the selection process for L3 in Portugal Ponte de sor, to become a SEP Instructor. Their offer is good however, they are bonding me there for 3 years which i think is quite a lot to be living in a small town in Portugal.
What do you guys think? Deal with 3 years in a small town or try to jobhunt for a more better job as I have heard the trend for employment is increasing this year and even more the next.
Anyone here have any info on the conditions over there? what about lifestyle etc?

Thanks in advance guys.

Well, RYR‘s offer at the moment is 5k€ & 5 years bond. So if you‘re not sure about L3, then why not try RYR? You‘re either stuck instructing 3 years in Portugal or paying 5k and fly a 737 for 5+ years around Europe while gaining experience on a 78T aircraft and getting paid for that...

Is it pay for the rating or pay for the rating and no salary?

Harsh reality time: Your fATPL has little value at best. Your fATPL, aged three years, makes you a training risk and a liability. It is perishing and your options are funnelling, rapidly. None of which is in any way fair, a reflection of you as a person or nice to hear but are hard cold facts.

You've spent presumably the best part of €/£ 100,000k so far and you're digging your heels in over another €/£30K? In other words you're prepared to blow 100K to save 30K?

Get a job, even in a supermarket, and borrow the money on a personal loan if you have to if you have a solid job offer in hand with the likes of FR. Beg, borrow or steal if necessary. It's that or flush everything down the drain. None of which is fair.

If you stand on your principles and refuse to pay then that's all you'll be left with. That's the state of modern aviation, wether we like it or not.

I had a buddy instruct there and as I recall he wasn't even into 4 figures net a month on average. Being bonded for 3 years for the pleasure seems like a double dose of insanity. That versus earning vastly more with a small monthly loan for a TR? Reality check time.

I've applied to Ryanair 6 times now and no reply. Updating my CV/Hours frequently and still no reply.
What am I doing?

In response to the other colleague, the offer states around 2,000 Eur net salary a month with paid accommodation, not bad since they are paying for your training. But 3 years is a long time.

Invest 5k, get an FI and they will employ you without bond. If they don't you will have plenty other options.
