CAA examinations average

Hi to all that have a job in the industry at the moment, I wanted to ask do airlines look at your average score at CAA examinations after you have built up your flight hours or is the flying experience more important in the future when applying to new jobs.

My flight school published all my individual exam scores and average % grade on my final written report that my employer would see. Some airlines require a minimum average grade across all 14. I believe Flybe wanted 90% minimum? Either way you should be aiming to achieve the absolute best grades you can regardless. Don't settle for just scraping by each exam. Good luck!

Ye I just had My GNAV exam and got 75 only my first exam which was really much lower than I expected and was wondering whether that will bite me later on, although I’m alredy with a cadet program so I now that I will be fine as to get a higher average but just wanted to find out when people apply for second jobs to airlines do they still look at those grades or are they more concerned with flight hours and type rating etc...

Matters more with the first job but second job no. None of my friends who’ve gone to other airlines have had to explain their exam performance. It is just hours that count and how well you come across at interview when you have experience.

They now ask for 85%, no mention of how many attempts - but unofficially I think it is 3 first attempt fails max.
I know someone who had an 87% average, but 5 fails who didn't get an interview. But someone with 85%, but only 2 fails who did!

I think airlines care more about first time passes in the exams, and also your CPL and IR - than an exam average. Especially how much the exams are changing at the moment, people can't smash the bank like they used to.

Just my two cents!
