LOT Polish Airlines - pre recruitment meeting
Hello All, did anyone here took took place in LOT - pre recruitment meetings? The had it in Warsaw and Budapest from mid July ..and into august. I'd appreciate if anyone can share some information about whatever took place thanks! |
I went. Expect it to be a real assessment. The day starts with them introducing their contract offer (5-year B2B contract, Ryanair style). After that, you will have a technical interview with two pilots and their questions range from Ops and Performance to Meteolorgy and Principles of Flight. Then you will be called to another room for the HR interview. If you pass this stage, you will have a sim screening on their Alsim performing a SID, STAR and approach, no emergencies, and psychometric tests. I can't tell you much more because I did not pass the first step. I was the only one with 200 hours...
They are looking for 787 and Embraer crews to be based in Warsaw and Budapest, 737 only in Warsaw. |
Thanks a lot ! How many questions did they ask in the technical part? And how long was it? In the same day they made also the sim & psychometric part? and if you can also Describe on what they asked in the HR that will be awesome.. good luck man! |
The technical was about 15 minutes and besides type related questions, they asked me general questions like take off and low visibility landing minima, tropopause height and why it is important to know and coffin corner. They asked another candidate, pointing at a jetstream at FL350 with minimum and maximum height, what is the speed of the jetstream at the minimum level. At least 60 knots...
The HR I think depends on your profile. I did my training in Poland so the questions were related to that. Just be yourself, and of course think about why you would want to fly for LOT. Psychometric/psychological and sim screening are in the second stage and it seems they make them in one day. |
hi guys,
went there recently in BUD. technical questionnaire was not in depth at all, just a few general, e.g. FTL, discretion etc.... HR was a bit weird, as said previously very doubtful B2B = business to business construction, like the early days of RYN..... paid only for the hours flown, however 40hrs garanteered, no health insurance, no pension, only a uniform allowance of €340 initial thereafter yearly €140 for replacement. that's it ! i am type rated and capatain since years, they asked me if i would fly the right seat for some time - i think it's not worth. and disgraceful such a business model for a star alliance state carrier |
Hello guys, anyone can tell me how long it took to get an answer "yes" or "no"? I assume you have passed all the stages of the recruitment process (otherwise its obvious the answer was instant). Did anybody take the screening in Warsaw?

It took 1 week to receive the answer. Either positive or negative. Do they also provide the information on type and TR begining date? As far as I know at the moment one can't apply for a specific aircraft type (they are recruting for Dash8, E-jets and 737). Of course if someone is TR on a 737 I doubt they will place him on a Dash, however I am a non TR cadet. Regards, |
One more think - (mod if you could please merge this to my prievious post as i cannot edit it right now). Can you tell me how does the sim session look now? It used to be like this - departure via SID, vectors, ILS approach and that's it. Actually i heared some roumors its now more Ryanair style with them looking at the MCC and CRM as well as some failures. Would you be so kind to confirm how did your sim assesment look like?
Many thanks. |
You have to do a briefing of course, but as far as I know the pilot monitoring is one of the assessors.
|
Hey,
I would like to refresh the tread. Anybody else attended recently to the screening in LOT? Could you share your experiences? |
After the interview
Hey,
Does anybody who passed the whole assessment have any information? Start date? Info about type rating etc? |
I know they are starting this month. Both TR and NTR.
|
Hi Guys, Anyone Who got open day invitation for Dec 17? |
Hi Gents,
Does anyone got called recently for the assessment? |
Hi Gents,
do you know if LOT is still hiring on the 787? How long did you wait for a feedback after the application online? Thank you in advance |
It is, but with low hours you will end up on the Embraer, 737 or Q400 fleet.
When I was there I was told that min conditions for the 787 FO positions were 1500 hours tt of which 1000 on Jet eng. |

I did my interview in May in WAW and got a job offer with a base in BUD on the EMB 190/5 family.
Did not take it because I was offered better conditions at Stobart Air. I was the only non Polish guy that day. Having a chat with few lads there I was told that many SFO and CPT are leaving LOT for WizzAir or Ryanair that offered them better conditions, this is why LOT opened to foreigners and not only Polish speakers last year, but also started to recruit low hours and just started their cadet program. Regarding the interview both the technical part and the personal one were very basic and nothing in particular was covered. Sim was on a 737 and I just performed few approaches. No emergencies or non standard situations. |
