Can Emirates or British Airways Pilots have tattoos on the forearm?

I've been wanting to get this small tattoo for the longest time on my forearm, which by the way it would be covered totally with a long sleeved shirt, but in the future I want to be a pilot and I've read that you are not allowed at all.
so i just want some clarification regarding this matter as id really want to get this tattoo.

Please let me know if id be able to get accepted into these companies with a tattoo on my forearm coverable with a long sleeved shirt.

Thank you all in advance

If you want to be a pilot, then do not take the risk. Especially with doing it on your forearm. Then do it somewhere almost not visible. But still, what is more important? Becoming a pilot or a tattoo?

Friend of mine has a huge dragon from just below the color down to his ankle, but there were some questions about it yes. He is btw a cpt, and even he had some problems.

  • BA - Current Rule- Tattoos must not be visible at any time whilst wearing uniform.

One good trait of a good pilot is to be able to prioritise. If you really want to be a pilot that much - and competition is intense - I would make your priority in this circumstance to be as employable as you possibly can be... forget about the tattoo and put your effort into something more relevant, like your first flying lesson, initial class one medical, etc.

Becoming a pilot is a long and/or expensive path and when trying to gain employment afterwards with mounting debts, it can be stressful. It would be a shame to waste all that time, effort and money on a dream career and lose out of a job with your dream employer just because of a tattoo. Stay focussed!

Btw, being a pilot is cooler than having a cool tattoo! :ok:

WTF would you even think of marking your body for life?

In some parts of the world it would not be uncommon to find some ex-military pilots with tattoos flying for the airlines and the carriers have taken view that they are willing to forsake or relax some of their rules in order not to weed out otherwise potentially exceptional talent. I've seen male pilots with mullets and ponytails and I'm pretty sure it didn't affect their ability to do the job safely and effectively. Nevertheless, as mentioned above you have to prioritise your ambitions and be crystal clear as to what is more important to you.

More to the point, why only Emirates or BA?

To the OP, you're giving this a lot of thought. The tattoo must have some meaning. Must it be on your forearm? Must you have it now?
Can you wait until you're a working commercial pilot and then get it? Perhaps then you'll know if it's acceptable for the airline you're in.
I would advise against getting it until you're working. I would definitely advise not getting it in a visible location. (Long sleeves are an option, but can get quite warm...)

I couldn't agree more. I loath being served in restaurants by tattooed waiting staff, and others in public service. It's rare but so refreshing these days to see a young man or women without these hideous, body marking symbols of the CHAV culture

I'm not a big fan of them but why the hate? If you're in an industry that doesn't care and it makes you feel like you're "expressing" yourself I can see why someone would get one.

Nah , it’ll be fine. I’d get a “ sons of anarchy “ one done....
