Does anybody have an idea of the relative timescale following the selection days in July for further selection (approximate dates of interviews, offers, etc) - perhaps based off previous cadetship campaigns?

I’m away for the summer so just trying to work out some “what if” scenarios in my head!

Thanks a lot for this info. Any chance you remember (if they told you) how much the allowance was?

Cheers.

The allowance was €200 per month. In previous years; I.e €200 beer money. Food in Jerez is included etc so nothing to pay out for.

Awesome scheme, full credit to Aer Lingus for running this fully funded again. I imagine it will be extremely competitive, which in a way shows how removing financial barriers gives airlines a much larger pool to choose from. Flying a mix of short haul and trans-atlantic on the A321-LR's would be one of the best pilot jobs in Europe IMO.

Well they've stated that training begins in November and first round of interviews are late July. I imagine they'd want to give out offers to the lucky few by mid-September at the latest to allow for notice periods. In previous year I believe there has been a further interview and medical in Dublin after the first interviews, so I guess that would be in August. All guesswork on my part though....

That's a lot of beer!

The job sounds incredible and its brilliant to see a resurgence in sponsored programs - or one at least. Of course I want to apply - but I am in my last year of college in the UK, which means I will have achieved the educational requirements, but not by late July...

I will find out how I've done in August on results day of course - is this too late? I do of course have predicted grades and can evidence that I should have no problem achieving the minimum.

Can anyone yield any pointers on this? Is anyone applying in the same situation? If the information about further interviews is correct then I would probably have my grades by then, officially.

You are, you attach it with your CV on the side. No idea if they read it though but in my view its worth a shot...

Wow! I didn't realise everything was covered at Jerez. This gets better by the minute! Thanks again for the info!

It does look to be an excellent programme, though I wonder what their view towards people with three month notice periods would be?

Application only mentions a CV but the general Aer Lingus jobs portal mentions CV and Covering Letter upload on the left hand side.

I am always inclined to provide a covering letter - but not sure if they'd think negatively of it if it is not explicitly asked for?

Jaair 28th Apr 2018 15:22

I believe the consensus reached in the 2017 scheme thread was that only a CV was required. See https://www.pprune.org/interviews-jo...ml#post9430868

I sent a covering letter, a standard CV for a no-experience scheme seems a little redundant past meeting the basic criteria, I would’ve thought they’d want to know your motivations first and foremost. :)

GAPilot261087 28th Apr 2018 23:03

I don't suppose anyone who has either applied in the past can shed some light on what the online assesments are ? I seen somebody mention COMPAS. I have interviewed for another scheme with Jerez but done the FTE PILAPT tests (which I to this day think are not accurate...). I'll have a look at compas in the mean while!

Officer Kite 29th Apr 2018 07:57

I had a cover letter the last time round and it was on the interviewer's desk along with my CV at the final interview rounds.

i can also confirm it was referred to, so make sure it's coherent and you actually can prove whatever it is you're going to write on it.

MarkSRFC 29th Apr 2018 17:33

Did anyone else not get an acknowledgment or confirmation email when they applied? I didn't see any 'error' message that others are talking about, but it says 'application received' on the portal!

Same story here.

Jaair 29th Apr 2018 19:11

I actually re-applied to this scheme and got an email the second time round. They attached two files to the email: the application summary and CV. However, the CV they attached is about 200 bytes big and can't be opened. :ugh:

PCL is a great event and also helps people to discover more areas of aviation (at a lower or no cost) rather than just the commercial pilot role. This is a great move by Aer Lingus but unfortunately since only they are offering a free scheme at the moment, competition will be extremely high (I’ve read over 6,000 applied before for 10 positions) and the rest of the industry are still requiring the minimum £100,000. It would be great for all airlines to adopt this but tbh I think it’s a long way off yet.

Hi, I can’t speak exactly for this scheme itself but I’m finishing some further education while I’ve booked assessment stages for another airline-specific program. My program gives specific info that predicted grades are accepted. If this isn’t explained on their webpage then I’d recommend you give Aer Lingus a call and discuss this with them. One thing to note, if you’re going to jump at this opportunity I wouldn’t allow it to take away from preparation time for your college exams, those are very important and should be prioritised! Good luck

Does anyone know what the implications of Brexit might be for Brits applying for this programme?

The application specifies that applicants be "eligible to live and work permanently in the EU"

What can I expect after finishing this programme?

Hello everyone
I’m just wondering what can I expect after finishing this programme and obtaining A320 type rating? How long will I have to work for them? 3,5 or maybe10 years?
