Volotea
New (pricey) course at FTE for Volotea appears to be open............good luck (will be cool for anyone wanting to fly a 717 for a while!). Found on the Facebook page
I would post the URL but I haven't posted enough as it stands |
143,000 euros......

...For a dead TR.
In some ways I'd like the cost of integrated to reach peak unaffordability as quickly as possible since then the airlines would have to fund it in order for high-calibre candidates to be interested. |

sort of.........it does mention that the initial is for either the 717 OR the airbus. So you could possibly start on the airbus or you will be 2 years on the 717 if i'm reading it right and then airbus anyway
It will be interesting to see the level of interest in this... |
143,000€... They lowered the ICAO level English from 5 to 4 cause they cannot find enough candidates...
|
CAE also just opened a scheme with Volotea but seems more specific that it will be A320 TR. No advertised cost though.
|
It does make some sense to charge cadets for a 320 TR, however it's a shame that Volotea make cadets pay for a dead 717 type rating. What would happen if Volotea went bankrupt? Well you'd have 25K Euros spent for nothing.
|
What I find a bit cheeky about this is that they say that after two years they will pay for the airbus type rating whereas the reality is when you compare the costs to other programs of the type, you are paying for it anyway pretty much.

It will be interesting to see the level of interest in this... Easyjet, BA Ciyflyer, Flybe, Wizzair have all had cadet schemes recently for significantly less money than this. Volotea might be a nice enough place to start your career, especially if you want to live in southern Europe, but it's not the kind of airline kids grow up dreaming of working for. The salary advertised on PPJN is lower than most European airlines and certainly isn't going to help pay back any huge loans. If you start on the B717 you'll be reliant on getting an internal transfer to the Airbus or probably paying for another type rating if you ever want to move on. I'm really struggling to see any reason for people to apply yet I'm sure there'll be loads....... |
