Question about the CTC Aptitude Test
 

Hey Guys,

I have a question for anyone who has done the CTC aptitude test if anyone can help it would be great. I have bought the package on the website latestpilotjob for CTC and on one of the tests using the joy stick. The test requires you to keep the crossbars over a point while it keeps moving.

My question is this, sometimes the pitch changes the opposite direction to what it should do in reality. For example, when you push forward on the joy stick instead of the bar going down the pitch bar moves up and vice versa. It’s completely the opposite what happens in a real aircraft. This only happens on one of the tests using the joy stick. Can anyone who has completed the CTC test confirm is this correct.

Yes I have done the test. I have no idea whether they change it regularly but I took it earlier this year.

I had this when I did my first one. What helped me was to think about it differently. The situation you describe is what happens when you use your instinct and "fly the bars" - the pitch appears inverted. I switched it around and thought about it as if I was "flying the crosshairs" and imagined the centre of the cross was the nose of the plane. So then when I pulled back and the bars moved down - it made sense.

Don't know if that'll help you at all. You might not even understand what I mean. But I tried to explain it reasonably clearly

For me I imagined the horizontal bar was the horizon. What happens when you push the yoke forward in flight? The nose goes down and horizon comes up. Just my weird way of computing it in my simple little head haha!

It sounds like you're describing flight director command bars. They are magenta bars that give you roll and pitch targets - you don't fly the bars, you fly TO the bars. So bars high/left requires back and left on the stick. (In a real jet, at least)
