OSM Aviation Group / FTEJerez Mentored Airline Pilot Scheme 2017

A new cadet program was launched today:
FTE | Selection Process
candidates must have native proficiency (ICAO 6 / C2) in either Spanish or Italian.

Reveal1 13th Mar 2017 10:59

I can't Believe that!!

New Cadet Program at 116.000 Euro PLUS 23.000for a 737 rating?:ugh:
Really there must be "less" smart people than in the past, to play with!?
Guys this is ridicolous and I hope You will realize than and not involve yourself in this loan!

AA757 13th Mar 2017 11:24

Agreed, I will not personally apply.

VariablePitchP 13th Mar 2017 11:28

Yes it's expensive, but is it anymore expensive than going whitetail with CTC/OAA/FTE? Not really.

You pay through the nose for a bit of job security though given its a job with what is essentially a Norwegian bankrolled front company set up to screw their pilots I could see why a lot would be put off applying.

It's very much a rich kids tool for getting 2000 hours before flying for ME3 airlines rather than for those wanting a long term career with a European airline. That said, if you are in that position then it's probably not the worst scheme in the world, pretty comparable to the CTC/OAA easyJet flexi contracts.

Reveal1 13th Mar 2017 12:51

VariablePitchP
hope you're jocking...
anyway I'm not a fan of CTC/OAA/FTE----they're not forming better pilots...
Anyone involved in these programs, is seriously going to live his worst years in his/her life...
according this program for example, I will invest 150k euro for the future and maybe this future will change in the mean time, anyway....then I need to work almost 4 years to repair the loan..!!! not worth !

LaGuardia 13th Mar 2017 15:23

Please it's serious? It borders the P2F for me except that your have salary at the end
You pays training today 40000 to 60000 in Europe outside the cadet program.
So you must add 70000 euros to fly at Norvewgian?
When I said that today the business has become a profession for rich it was true?
how do today? When you do the P2F (well I'm obviously against) people are not happy and the price of the cadets rise gently to pay for x years under acceptance of loan.
The profession begins to die?

FlyVeryHigh- 13th Mar 2017 23:41

Looked at the price and (+ TR) and nearly choked.

I've been offered CTC Whitetail Twice and FTE Jerez 3 times, had to turn them all down due to lack of funds (I initially applied as part of airline schemes) and reality recently dawned i'll never be able to afford it. I'm off to do the PPL and go modular in the hope it will all just work out, I'd rather that than pay £100K+ hoping for the same
Good luck :ok:

Vinny91 14th Mar 2017 10:51

Hello everyone ! It come out another Airline scheme this time more expensive than others. total 138400 €

Anyway, I would like to ask if anyone knows if the selection that we are going to attend is with OSM aviation or Norwegian air, both? what kind of job does OSM aviation?

thanks so much

AA757 14th Mar 2017 10:57

The EasyJet ATPL costs pretty much the same, the cost of the TR is just not directly included in the price of the ATPL but you end up paying for it.

Officer Kite 14th Mar 2017 21:10

Guys i woukdnt freak it, the price is in euros don't forget. It is no difference really to what we've become accustomed to.

Well said, this is exactly what i am doing now ;)

KayPam 14th Mar 2017 21:51

Could someone explain why CTC Oxford and FTE have prices so high ?
Do they pay the flight instructors as much as long haul BA captains ?
Do they fly golden aircraft ?
Do they not use any simulator and do all the hours in real flight ?
Do they offer significantly more hours than the competition ?

AA757 14th Mar 2017 23:10

-CTC, OAA and FTE are Businesses, their #1 goal is to make money, lots of money.
-No.
-No, although their aircraft are probably newer than the aircraft of other flight training organizations.
-No.
-No.

VariablePitchP 15th Mar 2017 03:23

Don't be so naive as to ask why CTC/OAA/FTE charge so much... Because people pay it!

Any business that charges more than a penny below the absolute maximum people are prepared and willing to pay for its product is doing itself a disservice. You may not like it and may not be able to afford it but there are thousands that are happy to pay and the schools will therefore continue to charge those prices. Same reason as to why Apple are able to charge such whacky prices for their products... Because people still buy them.

It's nothing to do with the schools being 'nasty' or 'ruining the industry', they're just selling a product people want.

Like this programme. If enough people don't want to pay the asking price, it will reduce, but I can guarantee that won't happen. If you can't beat them, join them, it ain't changing anytime soon.

KayPam 15th Mar 2017 10:10

I wasnt being naive but ironic.

Some say paying a training twice the price ends up being very similar to pay2fly :)

Meester proach 27th Mar 2017 21:55

You may get in your high horse about this, but you know full well they'll be those who take the offer and if you don't you'll be left behind.

Thus is the reality of becoming an " airline pilot "

Jaime_astur 23rd May 2017 14:47

Any of the candidates have notices about the resolution of the selection?

777ES 24th May 2017 10:51

I was wondering the same... no news either
