Farnair assessment

Hi guys,

Has anyone tried to the Farnair assessment recently?
Can you give me some hints about the ATPL questions?

Lansen,

First hand information or info just gleaned from the usual websites?

It isn't clear from ppjn if that FO base salary is actually paid to those on the pay to fly scheme.

Recent applicants of the pay to fly scheme were actually outsourced else where.

I noticed lately Farnair were only advertising stand alone ratings: 19000 Euros, When they were doing the pay to fly scheme they were charging around 30000 Euros, so are Farnair since the ACL take over still actually running the pay to fly scheme.

did you receive an invitation for their assessment?

Once i applied, asked me 1500 euros only for assessment.

I am not repeating the story about p2f, but Farnair is a joke and i will never accept pay for an interview.
If you got an interview without paying, so disregard my comment.

Farnair's P2F scheme : conditions have changed in 2015

Farnair is still running it's P2F scheme, even under the ASL groupe.

They keep taking F/Os charging them around 30.000eur for type rating + 500h/1 year contract (whichever comes first).

Assessment costs around 1300eur.
Gross salary during your first year : 2000eur/month (no bonuses and no paid extra days).
Perdiems: 60eur/flying night.

Until 2014, all people that had been enrolled in the P2F scheme were kept in the company and got a permanent contract at the end of their first year.

Since January 2015, it seems that the company has decided to get rid of some P2F pilots in order to make room for more P2F F/O's.

In the past three months 3 P2F pilots were thrown out after having flown around 400 hours.

Lately several pilots have been treated in a very harsh way during their simcheck and failed their proficiency check. The company gave them a second chance though. For a P2F guy/girl, failing your proficiency check means 2 months without flying before you can take your check again. 2 months OFF means around 90 hours less in your logbook. Which means you could be out of the company at the end of your P2F year with only 310h on ATR.

Nobody knows whether there is a (dirty) strategy behind this but one thing is clear, the company is not well intentioned anymore towards its P2F pilots like it used to be in the past. Farnair is changing and is clearly consuming cheap paying F/O's to make their sim center in Vienna as profitable as possible.

Note also that being a P2F at Farnair Switzerland means you'll be sleeping on average 18 days/month in an hotel somewhere in Europe. You will have to spend your standby week in an hotel in Cologne and you will not get perdiems during that week.

Concerning the ASL Groupe, all the companies owned by ASL remain quite independent. For instance Air Contractor offers beter conditions to its pilots than Farnair Switzerland: there is no P2F with Air Contractor and their pilots work only 8 days/month up to maximum 12 days (if called during their home standby). There is no home standby with Farnair and it happens frequently that you have to fly (night flights of course) 21 days/month (a killing experience).

Lansen,

Cannot give you more details about source.
Very first hand info, straight from Cologne.

Whitebird is describing pretty much how things are going on at this Swiss/Austrian company. Too sad for such a company drowning them self.
I've first hand infos as well, not from a friends friend sister or so.
So, if you are looking for a future as a F/O look else where, you might still invest a lot of money but not dealing with sharks.
