Cityjet Assessment

Hi everyone,

Anyone who has attended the Cityjet assessment recently and could give me a few details?

Thanks in advance!

hph304 5th Feb 2015 12:50

Correct, on the XJ at Simtech. Got a couple hundred hours, no turbine hours though.

I can't advise strongly enough against this outfit.
CityJet used to employ only through their cadet scheme or by taking on experienced pilots. They also used to pay for their pilots type ratings because the RJ is an old aircraft, few airlines use them anymore and so the type rating is all but useless.
However, because they are struggling so badly they are now pairing up with simtech to charge for assessments and for type ratings, because they know new pilots desperate for jobs are willing to do anything to get the foot in the door.
If you're willing to fork out for a type rating, go to Ryanair or EasyJet or Aer Lingus anywhere else where you will get a decent rating and at least get a semi decent salary.
The reason CityJet are offering these assessments is because they are desperate for pilots because all their current ones are desperately jumping ship and getting out because the airline is struggling, the management treat them appallingly, and it isn't a remotely decent place to work anyoure.
Second officer starting salary is less than €25,000.
Honestly, I'd reccomend steering clear and trying for the likes of Ryanair - you get a decent rating, it's good hours and pay and after a few years you can look at moving on to bigger better places.

Cityjet Assessment

However after 500hrs/100 sectors you can go elsewhere and qualify for ZFTT. You wont even get a look in at the big airlines unless you are a CTC/OAA/FTE graduate. Take whats on offer. Shows you are determined to get on in the industry and will be looked upon favourably when you move on.
I started on worse and am now on A320 and loving it

Interview

Can someone shed some light on what to expect on an interview with CityJet?

Tests, Interview, Questions, Simcheck etc.

Thanks!

worldoffe 19th Nov 2015 16:55

I also would be interested in any information regarding the assessment. The ACs I think are held at simtech for Avro Candidates?

Any information also per PM would be very appreciated! :ok:

Careers with CityJet

Are you a Pilot interested in participating in a Type Rated Course for the Avro RJ BAE 146 , please contact our Training Partner Simtech

What is this supposed to mean? Self Sponsored TR course on dying BAE 146?

Anyone?

What about job opportunities voor F ATPL holders with 200-250HRS TT?

AdzMc 2nd Dec 2015 16:53

I was sending emails back and forth with a woman who deals with recruitment at CityJet and she advised me to get in contact with Simtech. I did ask her if she could call me to discuss the possibility of and interview and signing a contract before I committed to paying the £15,000+ for an RJ85 type rating, but the trail went cold. :bored:

Lets bump this up a bit!

Assessments are started.

High number of applicants.

Most of Blue1 crew transferring to CRJ fleet.
Unknown how many "external" pilots needed. Blue1 have priority.

If you are a captain they most probably will take you straight.
One colleague of mine was called up by them, even though he did not apply (he is a line-captain) So most porbably it means they are in need..

For FOs different story..
Many looking to get out from not so well paid airlines / wanna get closer to "home" (Getting out of Africa, SE Asia)

EDIT:

I am talking about CRJ recruitment

lssp 8th Dec 2015 08:25

Are you talking about for the CRJ or the Avro?

dcoded 8th Dec 2015 18:14

Its about the CRJ.
Do they recruit on the Avro at the moment also?

lssp 9th Dec 2015 07:35

Yes I think so. Where do you get this info about F/Os is a different story? I think they need both since CRJ F/Os is hard to find and also people willing to move to Scandinavia and pay tax over there. Expensive..

dcoded 9th Dec 2015 09:47

I know there are a few FOs who are out in SE Asia / Africa willing to return home, even if the base is in Scandinavia and paying tax there.
Also with the recent closure of Estonian there are a few type rated people out on the market.

Lssp: Are you going? For which type?

Hi,
Did you participated in cityjet assessment process? If yes, can you write some words?

flydog 19th Nov 2016 16:32

I keep applying and have all the requirements for the SSJ, but never receive any reply, has anyone else received an invite or interviewed with them? or is it just repetitive advertising but no actual recruitment?

thanks
