MPL Restrictions
 

To satisfy my own curiosity:

Two pilots A and B

A has an MPL, 737 300/900 500hrs on type. He has done all his training and hours with airline X.

B has a CPL, 737 300/900 500hrs on type and did the traditional route ATPLs etc and is working for airline X.

Does A have any restrictions on job prospects? Is he attached to airline X or is he free to apply for FOs positions on the 737?

Who would be more employable (if it can be legally written)

Pilot A cannot change airline unless the governing body or airlines involve make special arrangements, the nature of the MPL is that you are bonded with the airline you trained to work with until at least 1500 hours.
Pilot B can go to wherever he feels like, so long as they accept him of course.

No they are both eligible for the same opportunities. MPLs are only restricted to line check. Sciolists rife!

Just found a section in the AMC stating the bond ends at the completion of the OCC course so as has been said line check.

I would be interested to hear about employment prospects as essentially they have the same privileges.

FullyFullyReady is correct, post final line check derestricting the MPL licence from the partner airline is a paperwork exercise. The MPL holder is free to go elsewhere.

Prospects seem pretty good, relative to the small number of MPL holders and the short amount of time they actually hold that licence.
