Hello! I'm new here. I'd like to know about cadet programs in the world. I'm Ukrainian and I'm planning to move in Europe and become a pilot. I'm 25 years old. Are there any fully sponsored programs in the world. I'm thinking about loan if I can't find fully sponsored program. I heard about programs but I haven't found it yet. I'd like to ask for advice about possible ways to start my career. Thanks.

Good luck. Basically you won't find full sponsorship in Europe and almost totally unlikely anywhere else. Paying by yourself, expect to be paying something like 75,000€+ to fATPL and more if you are stupid enough to buy a type rating, and even then you will have a tough competition to get employed.

Sorry to be realistic but that is the basic state of the market now.

1st. 100000€, 2nd. EU passport without restrictions, 3rd. patience, 2 years or more for integrated, over 3 years for modular, you have to start from PPL, then collect hours, fATPL modular, 6 months, after 14 exams, and at the end modular for CPL, ME and IR, 4th. to have a little, very little chance of a job, you need around 800 hs. more or less, until then you can fly parachutes, tow gliders or being an instructor, be aware that there are thousands of pilots with very good amount of hours, and they can't jump to a real job.
Little advice, don't get loans for a pilot career, it doesn't worth it, get a loan for buying a truck or a pizza oven, and start working from day 1, but not for a pilot license. 100000€ is the value of a nice apartment or even a little house in many places. Start with a PPL, then you see if you like it...

I agree with what Dash8driver and OAD have said, the state of the market is pretty poor. Fully sponsored schemes are non-existent nowadays I'm afraid, but the next best thing are the ones tagged by Airlines, i.e. the BA FPP, the Easyjet and Flybe MPL schemes, etc. Depending on the airline in question, they may partially pay for your training (at the expense of a lower salary to start with ) or them acting as loan guarantor.

In regards to The cadetship from the airline that can't be named. Are you serious? Not the holy grail? What planet do you live on? Paid and housed through the whole training cycle. The ability to bid onto long haul within 2 years. What more do you want?

As you can see by my comment your not stuck on the 320. Does Easy have 330/340 aircraft you can bid onto?

Yes you do have to take the exams again but should that be a reason to turn down an offer like that?

You were very lucky to start with an airline very close to the end of your CPL. If you had to wait a few years or not got a start at all your view of the cadet ship would be vastly different I suspect.

They may or may not be a large airline based in Abu Dhabi.... IIRC they've got some sort of injunction banning conversation about them on PPrune.

Although this scheme appears to only be for UAE nationals so isn't of any relevance to the OP anyway...unless he/she is originally from there?

In terms of what's available out there today the unnamed airline's cadetship is right up there and by today's standards is the holy grail in my opinion. Where else do you get such great career development opportunities and on top of that get paid during the training along with the additional benefit of not having to raid your family's bank accounts ? Every known cadetship out there that offers a direct place into the right hand seat demands at least £20,000, with the rest being £84.000 plus. These financial benefits cannot be highlighted enough, I know money is certainly not everything but it is arguably the single biggest factor to people not pursuing their pilot dreams.

The Aer Lingus cadetship is probably the best in Europe, if not the world. Especially in modern aviation. Amazing opportunity!!

Insecure loans for full cost or ATPL programs
 

Hi I was just wondering why airline schemes like EasyJet or FlyBe have not offered to secure loans for their cadets who are successful in applying, in the way BA FPP works. I am an aspiring pilot but do not have assets to secure £120k loan against and I'm 26 years old and cannot see modular route being suitable for me anymore, even if it is the only possible option financially.

Would appreciate any advice and any info on other airline schemes that would secure loans for their cadets with conditional offer of employment at end. Needless to say I will most certainly apply for BA FPP again.

I'm guessing because rather simply they do not have to. People are climbing through the windows and doors to get into a tagged schemes nowadays even if one has to put down £100k for them.
