Applying to easyJet cadetship

I have just seen a thread below this, but since this could be such a huge decision for me i decided to create my own thread to ask my own questions in this thread without hijacking someone elses.

This opportunity has just appeared the same time as i have realised it might be the original passion i should have done all along, and as a result my knowledge might not be the best.

I was wondering if someone with a more knowledgeable eye could look over and spot any glaringing worries? The way i read it is £69k for training which is repaid on starting your career with easyJet. (i.e sounds good? not many airlines do it).

There aren't many figures given really, does anyone know the starting salaries for new pilots? I've seen £40k or so mentioned but have no idea about the accuracy of that. And how about pay progression in general, does it hit high 5 figs?

Does anyone know the career prospects starting with easyJet (i.e good rep to move around?), and how they allocate bases/roster on & off?

One thing that strikes me is that it doesn't sound like the bond starts being repaid until you're employed by Easyjet themselves, rather than through Flexicrew. They also don't sound, on the face of it, to be under any obligation to employ you after your flexi period, only that you would be "eligible" for full time employment. Once it starts being repaid, how long does it take?

I'm not clear as to how the "investment" is on the part of APL or Easyjet. It looks more like you pay for everything, then you might get it back if you get a full time contract after a period of at least a couple of years of flexicrew. The deal seems exactly the same as the Wings course, except with an extra £11,940 on top of the usual costs and a guarantee of two years flexicrew; not a full time contract or any guarantee of bond repayment.

The other difference from the Wings programme is that you end up with an Easyjet MPL rather than a CPL/IR/fATPL. At what point do you become eligible to fly for anyone else if EJ don't offer you a f/t contract after your flexi period?

Can you sign up for this if you already have fATPL?

MPL is airline specific so you end up flying for that airline. If they let you go for some odd reason then you're pretty :mad:. You won't have the conventional PPL/CPL/IR/

From what i've read, and please someone correct me if i'm wrong, is that after 1250 hours or so you get an unrestricted MPL, which means you can apply to other airlines. Possibly...:confused:

Edit: Ok, so i've just read that you get an "unrestricted MPL" after final line check. Hmm..

I've just been told i've made it through to the next stage.

A one day event with assessments in the morning and afternoon; Phase 2 & Phase 3.

£210 selection fee for the day (includes lunch i guess!).

For candidates to start between July - Sept.

This is a huge decision for me, any honest opinions?

I understand that after about 1500 hours you get a ATPL

Irrespective of how you feel about the scheme I'd go - it's great practice for other roles and you aren't going to find any new information about the scheme sat behind a keyboard.

andre1990 what dates have they offered you for assessment ?

Of note, the following 'TBC' questions have disappeared from the information page - arguably the most important points!

What costs are covered by the security bond?
When do I start earning an income and how much will that be?
What additional costs will I have to cover?

I've applied for this as well...got my assessment day on Friday 26th April - safe to say I'm pretty nervous!

I applied last Thursday (18th April) and got a response asking me to book onto stage 2&3 - the aptitude tests and interview - the following day (Friday 19th April). I don't understand why they haven't replied to you, I presumed pretty much everyone got offered a chance to come and do the tests, I could be wrong though.

Can anyone explain the word "Tagged" please?

Why not use the word "Employment" or " Contract" or "Job" when offering "Tagged" Training opportunities? ( Which you fully self fund!)

Would the sceptical among us be right to assume parents would not pay for these schemes unless there was a job at the end, hence the term "Tagged" to cover, well, not a lot really?

As all FTO's are businesses which require turnover/sales irrespective of actual job availability, would it be in their interests to admit there are already too many people on these courses?

@15206 - The email did say there was one planned for mid-May, but from my own experience (albeit outside of aviation), if you have the chance for the first selection date, then take it.

I get this message when I try make an app ? I haven't made one or have , just haven't gotten a password or application number :ugh: CTC won't email me back either ? What do I do ...

Why are they both way too soon KostasSpil?

The applications close on 30th April, so I would think they will announce more assessment dates. I mean, for someone who applies on the 29th, will 4 days of preparation be enough ?

I've only had a week or so, just get stuck in and let your passion shine!

@15206, try the easyJet specific preparation on latestpilotjobs (make sure you subscribe for the right one), has proved useful for myself.

This may be a stupid question but are you supposed to hold a Class 1 Medical before you apply or can you get that after the assessment ?

I mean, if there are a 1000 applicants,straight away they might be able to weed out say a 100 because their medicals are denied before the application/assessment. This is how I think it's done.
Am I right?

(Entry requirements state "Be able to obtain an EASA Class 1 medical without restrictions", you can't really know for sure until you actually get it done, so that's why I'm confused...)

No need to get your medical before the assessment. They only requirement is that you have it completed before training commences, it is completely up to you if you decide to get it done now.
