Jobs with PPL in Rotterdam
Hi everyone,
I am working to earn my PPL, later on earning before CPL and ATPL. Would like to know what kind of jobs can i do with my PPL in Rotterdam (or around there). I would like to earn my flying hours and also save up money for CPL and ATPL. Any suggestions other than being a PPL flight instructor? Thanks in advance guys. :D |
I am sorry to say I don’t have any advice for you.
But I'd like to hear others views on having a PPL license and becoming a PPL instructor... has anyone ever been able to secure work from this? I just cannot imagine FTO's being comfortable with an instructor who can’t fly IFR in an emergency weather situation if required - and having an instructor who has only marginally more hours than the student they are instructing?! |
You need a CPL to earn money working as a pilot
You can't earn money with a PPL.
"no person who holds a private pilot certificate may act as pilot in command of an aircraft that is carrying passengers or property for compensation or hire; nor may that person, for compensation or hire, act as pilot in command of an aircraft" The only exclusion on this is to be a Flight Instructor, but you still cannot be paid for this. There are certain requirements for entering the course too, see below:
Most schools apparently are happy to recruit graduates from their FI courses, how true that is I don't know but considering they would be working for free, I wouldn't be surprised by it. Have a good think, if you are keen on getting your CPL and IR, maybe doing your CPL first is a good idea, before your FI rating, it contributes some hours and lets you earn $$$, not much though remember. |
Gordon,
You are incorrect my friend: Specific requirements for the PPL aeroplanes - PPL(A) FCL.205.A PPL(A) - Privileges (a) The privileges of the holder of a PPL(A) are to act without remuneration as PIC or copilot on aeroplanes or TMGs engaged in non-commercial operations. (b) Notwithstanding the paragraph above, the holder of a PPL(A) with instructor or examiner privileges may receive remuneration for: (1) the provision of flight instruction for the LAPL(A) or PPL(A); (2) the conduct of skill tests and proficiency checks for these licences; (3) the ratings and certificates attached to these licences. http://www.europarl.europa.eu/meetdo...icences_en.pdf |
Interesting! Thank you for correcting me then Contact Approach.
Apologies for any confusion caused nurhakim. |
No probs.
Note 2: Under Part-FCL the holder of a PPL with FI rating may be paid to give instruction for the PPL and LAPL. The 2012 amendment of Schedule 7 of the Air Navigation Order allows the holder of a UK PPL(A) with FI to be similarly remunerated for providing instruction. |

So it would cost you just as much in hour building to get an instructor rating on a PPL as it would on a CPL, so you may as well just get the CPL then the FI, then worry about the IR later on. |
