Situation in Turkey

How is the situation in Turkey for new ATPL holders, local and foreign ones?
Is the airline scene any better than Europe?

Also does that 500 hour rule prevent any foreigners for getting into
local airlines?

Thanks

The situation is not very good for new pilots. By 06/2013 each company will not be allowed to employ a quote higher than 25% of foreign F/O. By the end of 2013 the quote will be further reduced to 10%

For people with turkish passports the situation is rather good, for the ones without, it's very bad.

That is until they have to ground aircraft or a crash due to having to hire some badly trained crew after which the rules will be reversed...

Having a Turkish passport doesn't necessarily increase the chances of getting a job! Military service is mandatory for all male Turkish citizens which is a !

Also the Turkish DGCA is pressing hard on the English level.. nearly all the flight crews at OUR Airline (NOT OTHERS) has taken the test and all the new comers need to take it also!

Another major problem for many unemployed Turkish Pilots in Turkey is the standards of English (yes I know the standards are very low) but in our airline we want quite high scores specially for F/Os.. which is a pain because 4 in 10 pilots fail from just English profinancy.

And with other airlines like.. Sky, Pegasus, Corendon, Saga, Tailwind, MNG Cargo, ACT Airlines its not what you know.. but its who you know unfortunately :(

Lastly, 90% of the civilian pilots from Turkish flight schools have veryyy low flying standards.. nearly all of them hasn't experienced flying to more than 4 aerodromes though out there flight training :s
