First Jet Job
 

Hi guys,

Need some info.

I have just over 2600hrs, on Dash8's and Twin Otters, now I am looking at possibilities on jets.

I have tried a few options and have CV's with Qatar and Cathay for their SO programs.

Dose anyone have information on buying a rating with placement into a job. I have been in touch with Eagle Jet and am waiting for them to get back to me, but are there any other options.

Any Info would be appreciated.

Well, you got any other suggestions Antonov? Its not as if operators are rushing to get experienced turboprop drivers rather than 200hr guys an girls!

Unfortunately, that's the modern reality. The 200 hour hero programs of P2F are a much more profitable revenue stream than actually hiring guys with commercial flying experience. Experienced TP drivers are not desireable as they generally have been around long enough not to be bullied; have higher salary expectations as they've already put up with a few thousand hours of poor pay; and have generally been bonded onto jets.

Now that's all gone and TP drivers, skippers and FOs, are lower down the chain than 200 hour, bright-eyed, newcomers with no commercial experience but a desire to burn cash.

I have no idea why you'd even consider a 737-200 type rating. A320.

But I would do neither purely because I won't make me money back and I'll probably be treated like dirt.

No offence,but I hope you won't do it over here in Europe!I see that you're from India?If you want to diminish the industry standards over there be my guest, but don't ruin it for us over here! 60K euros for line training is a joke.I wouldn't do either, with that money you can get 10k and treat yourself to a FI rating and you'll be respected by your profession colleagues instead of being treated like dirt like Pudoc says...
The other 50K instead of giving to some blacklisted airlines,there are plenty of charities supporting children in Mumbay and Delhi that I know,I can pass you the website if you want?....sorry but this people never learn:ugh:

Don't do it.

Buy a FI rating for the fraction of the cost and teach people how to fly.

60K is a lot of money.

Agree with Journeyman, and i can sympathise too! I don't see a way up the ladder either at this point in time, in Europe at least, and for the forseable future.

I only see 3 options. Eagle jet, Ryanair and CTC but I'm personally not able to even pay for CTC's ATP deal (and i am eligible at the mo) which is the least of a rip off of the 3.

With your hours i'd be targetting Qatar, or LHS of a Dash and eventually training captain on TPs. Thats my goal now, forget the jets. Bad timing thats all.
