1000 hours... how to continue with my career

Hi everybody.

RIght now I'm 30 years old and I lost my flying job last october. I used to fly an Eclipse 500 all around Europe and the North of Africa(about 550 hours) and my TT is almost 1100 hours.

I was trying to find any kind of pilot job, but there's nothing I could find without TR + 500 hours on type (and no hope Ryan is calling...). So... what to do next? Right now I'm working as a sales representative in a packaging company, but I hope this is just a break of my pilot career.

Well, I just want some kind of advice or directions on how to continue with it.

Thanks in advance!!!

same like many pilots.
best is to wait and do something else, unless you ar interested to spend your money in these LT program and still be unemployed.

in europe, there is nothing. I think this market is dead for years .I am off to USA, go corporate or fly regional jets.

Very good question. What to do? I'm facing the same problem. I was thinking to do an airbus rating and then look again. But i guess it is expensive gamble. Are you going to fund your recurrent by yourself? The only thing you can do is just waiting untill the market picks up and in the meantime continue with you salesjob.

Stop talking about it, GO! Let us know how you get on....... Lots of low time jobs advertised, I wonder how much they pay for a part 91 Cirrus SR-22 pilot or a PA-32 Captain....

Good Luck

Well, thanks to everybody who answered.

de facto: I have applied everywhere: VistaJet, LEA,... executive, cargo,... everything. Nothing at all.

Stick35: I was also thinking about an A320 rating, but it only makes you spend money and you'll be stuck in the same place with a bigger debt... Unless you pay for a line training. Is 1600TT and 500 on type enough to find a job in Asia, Africa or South America? Well, enough to apply but, any chances?.
About my recurrent, I'd like to fund it myself, as there are just a few of Eclipse 500 pilots in Europe nowadays and Eclipse will start producing again in 2013 (they have many orders from the Middle-East) but the problem is... that my company was the only one who offered this service and there is no place in Europe (JAA) to do my recurrent. I don't know how to do this, really.

I think the smartest thing to do now is waiting for an opportunity in the future (a very far future, though) but, is it good to stay "out of the wheel" in the aviation world?

I don't know anything about the job market, but there are other aviation jobs/careers besides airlines and corporate jets. To me, they look much more interesting as well, but hey, that's just me.

They pay 2000$to 4000$ in part 135.
Most teach to gain 135 minimums.

Still better than staying unemployed in Europe. No?
