CityJet Holding Pool
 

Hi there!

I succesfully completed CityJet's selection procedure for F/O's and I'm in the holding pool for 1 month now.

From what I've heard, the pool is very small. I'd like to get in touch with others who are currently in it, in order to exchange information about possible start dates etc.

Also if anyone currently working at CityJet has any information regarding possible positions, I'd love to hear about it.

What's your experience level? Are you destined for the F50?

Ab-Initio, completed fATPL training last year. Positions possible on either the F50 or Avro.

Good work getting in at that level - Integrated or Modular? Any degree/other quals?

All I need is the MCC now to be able to apply.

Integrated (incl MCC) and nothing more.

Type rated on the AVRO/BAe146 and got a reply not even mentioning a holding pool - their demands will be met from the cadet scheme they had earlier on..

The won't recruit anymore because of cadets graduating soon. Just the holding pool remains.. Any other new:)?

Yes, I am new! I also succesfully completed CityJet's selection procedure for the F/O position on the AVRO fleet or Fokker50. I see you're also from the Netherlands. I know another pilot from Holland, so that makes 3 dutch pilots in the holdingpool ;). On this moment I don't know anything about start dates. Maybe you can tell me more?

I have been in regular contact with Cityjet over the last 18 months and they tell me that they will keep my CV on record for future positions.

They go on to say also they will fill their need for pilots with their cadet program graduates.

That's all I know! Didnt hear of a holding pool before now, maybe the graduates are in the holding pool too!?

What's the latest with Cityjet? Any TR courses due to start? Any crew needed at all? Has anyone been hired this year?

Hi Pilot 787,

I heard the other day that they are planning two type rating courses for the Avro very soon but they will fill them with the cadets. No figures mentioned.
They are quite short of FO's but their method of dealing with it is to call people on their day off to see if they'll do the flight. We'll call 10 muppets and one muppet will say yes, that's the attitude.150 euros for working on a day off is better than paying another salary.
They came up with a voluntary redundancy package about 7-8 months ago saying we were totally overstaffed and that this number and that number of pilots had to go. They even produced some interesting figures for each base. If they didn't get enough volunteers then they would have to chop some heads. There was a good take up of the voluntary redundancy from the skippers. Job done as far as the management were concerned. They got rid of the skippers on the higher pay grades and immediately started upgrade courses for new skippers to be based in Edinburgh. The new skippers are of course on a lot less at the bottom grade of the payscale.
Pay freeze and grade freeze in effect now for almost 4 years and no sign of it lifting.
Four guys came across from the Fokker 50 VLM fleet a couple of months ago. They are just finishing up line training.A lot of FO's went to Emirates. Up to September 2012 I lost count. Mostly it was the Dublin guys. More are waiting to go to Emirates. They have passed the selection but they need a start date.In the past few months Emirates have slowed down their intake but it should pick up again soon. A few skippers are said to be going to Ryanair soon and another four guys on an upgrade course in Dublin at the moment.
To sum it up, cityjet's planning to keep the seats filled is totally screwed up. It has always been like that and it always will be. Management here are not the sharpest tools in the drawer.
I hope you get a call but don't be pinning any hopes on these guys. Its totally random.

How long have guys been in the hold pool?

Anyone have any new updates on cityjet recruitment over the winter possibly? Direct entry btw not cadets

Holding for what? New owners are due to be announced and if you look at their previous acquisitions in the sector reorganisation appears to be name of the game. In fact 101 of any takeover generally involves lots of pain for current employees.
