How stable are BMI Baby?

Just wondering in the current climate, how stable are BMI Baby, do you think they would be a good starting point for the first job? Are they likely to go bust, given that BMI as a whole are struggling?

Do some research on here. You'll find out as much as anyone can tell you.

bmi is currently in the process of being sold by Lufthansa. At the moment, it's not clear (or decided) who is actually going to purchase it. In the case of mainline, it looks as if IAG and Virgin are now the only two after it. Lord Hesketh was interested, but he's pulled out now. Contrary to reports, it is not a done deal with IAG.

Baby and regional are both being sold seperately, but if those deals fall through, then I suppose whoever buys the group buys them too.

I have no idea who's actually buying Baby (well, I do, but I ain't saying here) but if it is sold, then I think that's the best thing for the company. I can't imagine IAG or Virgin being much interested in it.

As a first job though, I would suggest that you don't be too choosy. If you are offered something, then take it. It's only if you are offered multiple jobs that you need to think about it.

Baby is full of top notch people and you wouldn't go wrong one little bit by starting your career there.

Are they even recruiting for flight crew? (I know it's not advertised on the website) and if they are does anyone know who the best person to contact is?

I turned up on their doorstep at Donington Hall about a month ago (CV in hand) and couldn't even get past the receptionist! (she wouldn't even tell me who the best person to contact was :ugh: despite my best efforts to coax the information from her or take my CV to be passed on!).

I'm B737 300-900 rated and desperate for my first break into the industry.

Thanks, say again slowly, alot to to look into but yes definatley not an opportunity to turn down!

Shockwave 83, i heard word from an FTO i went to, the company is looking for a few cadets....i guess keep on trying, things are starting to look good for the industry, certainly a bit of movement anyway.

Hi, pretty certain baby will be recruiting for the summer, Donny Hall was a waste of time , you need to find 'Tiny Towers' somewhere at the back of The Hall!

Shockwave83 12th Dec 2011 16:36

Thanks 180 baktrak.

Tiny Towers! the receptionist neglected to mention that I was in the wrong place! that's frustrating! does that have a separate entrance? I shall have to take another day off and go back!

It's opposite the massive royal mail sorting office at EMA. Never been inside myself but a (paid) job's a job.

Baby are no longer in Tiny Town at EMA. They have moved to within the Donington Hall site.

You won't get an easy ride just walking into the place and asking to see someone. Not that long ago a couple of nutcase disgruntled pax turned up and caused havoc, so unless you have a reason to go there, then pitching up won't generally be appreciated.

The receptionists aren't likely to start giving out information to just anyone who turns up, even if they do know.

Thanks JASPA I'll definitely drop him an email.

I always feel awkward turning up on the door step (I've heard cases where it's been effective, but on the flip side I am aware it can annoy people) - but if you don't try you don't get!

Doorstepping people can work, however, you have to know who you are going for first. Just turning up and expecting to get names or access is just not going to happen.

There's no point in leaving a CV at a desk, you need to make sure it gets to the person required.

JASPA, I can pretty much guarantee that Paul will not appreciate you putting his e-mail address up on here. Not only will he now receive a flood of CV's, but also the spambots will have a field day.

How to win friends and influenece people...

I am told that they only require a few cadets and that they will be sourced following recommendations from an FTO. I wonder if other applications will be discounted.
I would be very underwhelmed to find my email address on a public forum!
