We are currently recruiting for a hold pool of Trainee Entry Pilots.

The Trainee Entry Pilots task is to operate the aircraft in a safe and economical manner and support the Captain. In the event of the incapacitation of the Captain, the First Officer will assume command. The First Officer will be expected to operate in an efficient operation working within the framework of the aviation regulations and the BA CityFlyer Operations Manual. Effective risk management techniques should be applied to ensure both commercial and customer service needs are met, all within the context of a safe operation.

This might be a good opportunity for the fresh one looking for their first job and for the instructors who wants to jump into airlibes, I hope they dont ask to pay for anything. Good luck guys

I think most of these positions have already been filled, a lot of them came from BA contacting the flying schools a couple of months ago and taking recommendations, then they all went for selection days. There are a few due to start type-ratings this month.

Anyone know which flying schools they chose to contact?

Oxford,FTE and CTC I heard,friend of mine got a call for an interview next month.I want to apply but will qualify end of next month only,if they are still recruiting I'll put it through,but to be very honest,I doubt that anyone who isn't from those schools with a high ATPL average/first passes(my mate averaged 97%),will stand a chance...:(

I have an application placed with them for FO positions from a year ago, never heard anything. Bit disappointing if they went straight to the schools.

I especially like the part - 'Did you complete a fully integrated flying course - NOT A MODULAR COURSE' then YES or NO

Im thinking they may see my 'Poor Man's' JAA CPL.ME/IR as not worthwhile even entertaining my application.

Could be three hours of my life I may never get back!!

Guys , under the references part (education/employment) I only have the option to fill in some very basic boxes name address etc of employer but under the summary page it says duties/pay etc and shows them as being blank.

Also I don't have an option to list my qualifications or experience.

I have opened it in Chrome and Explorer but it is still the same. Any ideas??

I think it will be three hours you'll never get back. I applied last year at the same time BA's application opened. I got a swift no thanks from CitiFlyer, but went on to be accepted into BA, who I now fly for.

I subsequently heard they went for Integrated people and a few DECs. It would be a lot easier if they just saved you the hassle and told you to eff off when you got to that question. ;)

I think you are right but I will do it anyway , I mean its not like I can afford a social life anyway now I have a blue book :E

if they choose integrated only over modular, isn't that a bit dodgy with the old employment / recruitment laws?

I wish you were right mate,but BA did it for years,only accepted integrated students and it seems that discrimination was never an issue...maybe someone with more experience could en-light us?The talk of Integrated product being better is utter rubbish Imo,I think the training is what YOU make of it,if you take it seriously or not,and like you said,it sounds a little discriminatory to me...

Yes it is discrimintion, but there is nothing illegal about it. Don't confuse "equal opportunities" and discrimination. A few friends of mine are off to BACF, studied at FTE, I think they have an agreement at that school.

Is this programme for ppl with fATPL or not?

You never know, may'be they'll do abit of positive discrimination and take on one of us poor modular guys :}

Does anybody know what they are actually looking for with these jobs? A lot of people out there, me included, just need an opportunity to even put ourselves in front of the assessment panel to show them what we can do. It would be a real shame if they only took newbies on this scheme as there are still hundreds out there either unemployed or building hours as an instructor etc. I have about 600 hours, mostly twin. Any hope of getting a reply?

Well if the rumoured numbers of those leaving in the next 5-6 months are close to being true BACF will need to hire experienced FO's as well as those straight out of FTO's.
Failure to do so will result in the same situation we were in a few years ago... Not enough experience for command upgrades.
Several EDI based Captains are also close to confirming their departure....
Last count 5 Captains (2 Confirmed) 12 FO's (3 confirmed with notice handed in) others with course dates later in 2012, totals from both bases.

Have any low houred guys been contacted yet for interviews etc for the Trainee Positions? As they positions are essentially for the hold pool, I assume they will take their time going through CV's etc?

I'm a low-houred guy and applied about a month ago. I've got 220 hours and haven't heard anything as yet. Anyone shed some light on when we may hear anything?

Perhaps when the application closes on 31st of October?
