"Demand for airline pilots set to soar"

Here you go guys, a little something from the good ol' US of A, to brighten up your otherwise gloomy day :ok:

Demand for airline pilots set to soar - USATODAY.com

I think most people know I'm a grouchy old cynic when it comes to this kind of stuff, and I'm not exactly sure how they reconcile this article with the one on the front page predicting the imminent meltdown of the US economy and the 10 year recession that will follow if they can't get their debt crisis sorted soon :hmm:

However, IF this was true, and I know this is mostly a British / European website, but there's a hell of a lot of Yanks on furlough from the majors, working for the likes of Emirates and on Asian contracts ... IF they all went home to their old jobs, and IF the asian market went berserk, those airlines would have no choice but to do a lot of recruitment of experienced pilots from Europe, and there would therefore be a lot of new jobs in the system for the likes of yourselves.

The guy in the video (who works for that very expensive flight school) managed to keep a straight face throughout that shameless piece of marketing. It will no doubt squeeze a bit more cash out of gullible wannabes and their parents.

For those who are fortunate enough in various ways not to have to pay taxes while working abroad may not want to return to the US. It will cut their salaries nearly in half after taxes are taken out and then you pay taxes on everything that is spent with your net wages. The " major" US carriers aren't so major anymore. Bigger ? After mergers yes, but not the glam jobs they used to be.

Best of luck to those who are on furlough and do want to return.

Everyone in the flight training industry is hanging the hats and proberly their pensions on that Boeing report.

mad_jock 25th Jul 2011 10:53

There is a thread on here with PTC doing the same in Ireland.

None of the Uk ones have been daft enough to try it on here yet.

And as the Advertising Complaints have already ruled the Boeing report isn't reason enough to claim a pilot shortage we might be safe.

Though English is the international language of aviation, Westbrooks says Spanish-speaking students also are being sought by Latin American airlines. "We have airlines knocking on our doors," he says. "If you can speak Spanish fluently and can fly an airplane, wow, you can write your own ticket."
Hmmm, I speak fluent Spanish, I can fly a plane... They seemed to forget to mention the fact that some countries in Latin America only hire their own nationals, or like in Mexico where you have to be native born!

Demand for airline pilots set to soar - USATODAY.com

ahahah !!! next joke.

they will never pay you as long people pay to work.
and this is where we have landed, thousand of pilots, all desperate, sending money to these idiots of airlines for a few hours, then OUT!!!

and idiots, still believing there will ba pilot shortage.

where, when, how,???

do you really believe airlines will give you a call and tell you" look, we are desperate, we need asap a pilot to fly our 320 now, we have seen you have a cpl, would you like to sign for 3 years with us, we will pay you from training?"

It will never happen... It didn't happen since 1950, so do you think santa claus will come and will change the world economic in 2-3 years and suddenly airlines will start to call you, and everybody will get job, will work and will have plenty of money to travel?.

get real!!!.

or do you think it s going to be harder and harder to make a living, more people will struggle, fuel will go up and problems will rise as usual and there will be less and less pilot job in general...,?

get some sens!

all you can get (if lucky)is to fly a small aircraft, paid peanuts in the middle of the jungle!or go on one of these exotic islands to carry tourists , or drop skydivers ...have fun but for the rest, just forget, no money=no jet hour for you,who is the next idiot who will pay me?

forget about an airline career.!
