How do scores using CockpitWeb Aptitude software compare to PILAPT pass requirements?
 

You're no doubt keen to give your best at selection, but my advice would be to chill out about it and just do your best on the day - all the tests are straightforward and it really is the case that you can either do it or you cant.

The key to it all is to approach everything in a calm manner and not panic if you think you're making mistakes, as you'll only compound the issue. This is particularly true on the capacity test you'll do, where you are shown a running score of hits and misses (everyone clocks up at least a few 'misses').

You'll be better off focussing your energies on preparing for the interview - industry awareness, motivation, examples to back up good pilot character traits etc. Preparation here pays real dividends.

I did the CTC tests just over three years ago now and used said software to prepare. I'm afraid I can't remember any specifics but I can say that they were both certainly useful and I passed the aptitudes with a high score.

Once again I can't remember specific levels required but you can never be too prepared so just keep practicing until you reach your plateau and I'm sure you will be absolutely fine; it didn't seem to me like an especially high score was required. Also, I don't believe candidates are ranked based upon their scores, I think the tests are simply hurdles which must be crossed.

*** I actually just had a go on on Moving Cross III ( on Most Difficult) for you and got a score of 249. I passed the RAF aptitudes and CTC with high scores so if you can achieve anything in that area I would have thought you would be fine (unless my aptitude has plummeted over the last few years ) ***

Anyone here knows where to get free software / guides on PILAPT test? I've found CockpitWeb but it requires a payment. Sorry for the noob question. Planning to prepare but zero experience as of now

I've done the RAF tests at Cranwell, trialed the initial BA tests when they switched over to their new format, passed the CTC tests and the Emirates tests of which all have similar versions to the CockpitWeb tests.

The software, near identical to the BA and CTC tests, is a very useful tool.
On your test day not all tests within the CockpitWeb bundle will be given to you as time on the day is limited.

I can't remember which ones were and which ones were not.

I would say it is useful but the maths questions - 25 in 12 mins without a calculator - can't possibly be realistic. It's possible to answer 25 in 25 mins without a calculator but to be able to answer 25 in 12 mins I can just about manage it with a calculator.

I am pretty sure that some of the math questions have errors - not all but a few.

Have you tried Numerapt from cockpitweb too?

My advice is that both Aptitude and Numerapt from cockpitweb are good value for money.

It would be great if any other people with experience of PILAPT could chip in here.

Be careful practicing the Pilapt tests too much- I did a Pilapt test at Cabair a few weeks ago and passed with no practice on the Pilapt part whatsoever. I was sent an example physics and maths paper that they test you with and had a go at them, but I walked in blind to everything else.

I was repeatedly told that they aren't necessarily looking for a high score in the tests, but are looking for an improvement over the three attempts. Obviously, if you get 1/10, 2/10, 3/10 then you won't score that well, but in one of the 6 tests I was given, I scored 9/10 in all three of the attempts, which gave me the lowest score from all six tests, despite the fact that 9/10 was the highest individual score I got all day!

Best tests to practice on cockpitweb for assessment centres
 

Hi all

I'm just about to do the assessment and have the said software (cockpitweb). I'm think I am doing ok on all the tests, apart from the Flight test. Has anyone been assessed using the Flight or Flight II tests at the assessment centres? Flight is particularly hard and sometimes I don't even think possible to complete without getting a miss...

Has anyone been for assessments lately with flybe/ba/ryanair and got any tips on which are the most relevant tests on there to practice?

My advice having passed selection would be to use the software to get comfortable - it will allow you to feel mentally prepared. Don't panic about not being perfect. Your best will be good enough.

Shorty what type of Joystick do you use for the CockpitWeb software. I bought it a few weeks ago and have tried 3 different Joysticks for the 'Moving Cross and Flight tests', each of them not responding. I specifically bought the software for these types of tests so its annoying not being able to practice them :ugh:

Logitech attack 3 - works on windows 7, 64 bit.
The only problem I had was that sometimes I had to quit the software, unplug and then plug it back in for it to be correctly detected by the cockpitweb software. Although I suspect that this was a PC usb issue.

I wanted to know whether you know what happened to PilaptPrep, the cockpitweb competitor ? I am trying desperately to find it but it seems it has disappeared.
One of my friend told me about a website that sells pilapt preparation software but cheaper than cockpitweb but i can remember the website name. Anyone has an idea ?
