Flight School Interviews - Past Education (Dropping Out)
 

I've dropped out this year at College because I wasn't really interested in my field of study anymore. Since then I started focusing on aviation again by reading books, PPRuNe and so on. I'm planning on commencing flight training, something I have always aspired to do. However, due to the bad aviation climate at the moment I'm afraid I will have to postpone it. So lets say I start going to assessments in 1-2 years while studying something else, will I get any questions about the year I dropped out? As a matter of fact I'd be dropping out of my new field of study as well if I pass the assessment. This means I'd come to a total of 2 drop outs (if successful during assessment)

This might make flight training organizations wonder if I won't drop out there as well. This whole having-dropped-out-a-year thing is spooking around in my mind for quite some time now. Maybe I should indeed study something else but obtain my degree in it before going to assessments? However this will keep me away from commencing flight training for at least 4 years or so

I hope I'll be able to soothe myself, knowing what to do by reading some of your comments.

If you have the money to pay for your flight training you will have no problems. Flight training organizations are a business and need people to train with them otherwise they will be no longer.

I am sure you have looked on pprune about how hard it is to get any flying job at the moment, and it is taking around 5 to 10 years after finishing your forzen ATPL to get a flying job, less your really lucky.

The Flight Schools I'm looking at are the more decent ones, not the ones where it's impossible to fail for an assessment if you have the money. But yeah I know it's hard to get a flying job at the moment, thats also why I'm looking at well known flight schools etc.

Oh Dear Hayleigh !! it is exactly the alleged decent ones that are the very ones who do just that , I went to one of the best (proven) modular flight schools in the country , I took no assessment and paid no money for the privilege and got first time passes in both tests.
I am a high school dropout with not a qualification to my name nor di i give a monkies I am currently teaching CPL and IR which is what i set out to do and not being a work shy red brick uni grad has done me no harm whatsoever , dont believe the hype !
Oh and I am also constantly doing mep and Ir refresh training for OX-CTC etc etc grads with all the money and quals in the world who are currently doing Sweet FA to do with flying , but their brochures are great

First of all - thanks for the reply! Second of all I'd like to say it's nice to see you got somewhere as a drop out with no qualification to your name. Now that you mention OX-CTC, those are actually 2 Flight Schools which I have a preference for. If I can't get in there I'd probably take the modular route and build it up slowly

From your last sentence in your latest post you obviously have thought it through but before the baying idiots descend with modular v integrated arguments I am going to close the thread
