Recency

Can someone explain to me what exactly is meant, when an airline looking for crew for a certain type, says You must have "recency" on the type? Are they talking landings, flighthours or what?

That means are you current on the type to fly it. In simple words, your medicals and PPC are valid to fly.

So basically You must have had a pc sim.ride within the last 12 months, and You medical not pass the exp. date, if I understand You correctly?

You can just get in and fly , they dont have to train you do a sim etc.

Well, no. Under JAR, at least, and probably other regulatory regimes, an AOC holder such as an airline is obliged to perform some checks on a new-hire pilot, even if he flew the same type for another operator the previous week. This would include some simulator for an OPC, and enough line sectors to be able to pass a line check.

Why? Because each airline has its own SOPs, and the AOC holder is required to ensure that each pilot is standardised.
