A320 Low Time, Type Rated and looking.... :ouch:
 

Hi All,

I am planning on a self funded A320 TR. Would like to know which airlines would be interested in hiring a low time on FAA for a 2-3 year contract here onto my ATP.

Ready to convert FAA to any ICAO. Ready to relocate to any corner of the world so long I fly.

CPL on Diamond Fleet DA20 DA40 DA42

Which operators would show interest? Which part of the world is hiring Low time Type rated 320 pilots.

No US/Europe work permits or authorizations :sad:

I will say be very cautious.

I paid for my own TR, granted not on the Airbus, but I too have no job at the end. And the economic climate ATM is realy bad, i mean depressingly so, so you have to decide, can you afford to do it atm, will you still have another job to go back to.

If you can afford too, and have a fall back job, then that at least makes your decision a lot easier

Why don't you wait until the economic market picks up again?
Now is really bad timing, and I don't think the operators will even look at your application unless you have minimum 500hrs on type.

Don't pay to fly.

A type rating on a 250 hour FAA license is just plain mad! No carrier would consider you. I think you've shot yourself in the foot by getting a FAA license when you have no work permit in the US!

You say you are ready to convert to any ICAO license but JAA conversions are hard work and expensive and again you have no work permit.

I know what you're thinking....All these 250 hour European bods, go and do a type rating straight after training. It must be relatively straightforward to get a job on type. In Europe, a type rating on a 250 hour JAA license is risky but there are airlines who would consider you. It does happen, quite a lot actually. European aviation has come to accept this now. But no airline is going to offer you employment before you have a JAA license and before you have a work permit.

I feel for your situation, it's about 100 times worse than mine! :ouch:

I think if I was u... I would rather get CFI over there (States) and maybe try to get a job in one of the schools in Asia (im guessin u come from this part of the world, if u speak mandarin even better), looks like theres few in China.
E-mail em and see if they r hiring, ask abt req. as well.

I echo a few of the previous posts. Don't want to get involved in a debate about paying for a rating but now is not a good time to jump in. There is absolutely nothing out there at the moment job wise and soo many 73 and 320 pilots with <500hrs. Not to mention the guys with 4/5000 hours that are job hunting. Sit tight and see what the market is like in 12-18 months and try and pick up some kind of aviation related job in the mean time e.g dispatching/ops. Good luck with whatever you choose to do. :ok:

Find a bird in USA. Get green card. And then worry about an FAA TR

Don't do it, you wont get hired just because you have the TR.
You will regret spending the money.

Yes, some companies have been hiring Low time TR guys.
But now is not a good time, period.

Not anymore in Eastern Europe - Centralwings gave out about 50-60 pilots 737 TR from 600 hr to nearly 2000, they're on the market now, searching like You but already with some hours in real comm. ops, AirSlovakia, and others in the region are having really hard times, not to mention about bankruptcy...

If I had a money for TR I would invest first in FI and later make some popular types such as Pipers - 3x/ Cessnas 4xx or 2xx and at least get paid for any flying, paradroping... GA is not that bad

who in south east asia are employing low hour guys? i have applied to them all but no replies for a couple of months.

in east asia, they employ captains.

no low time pilots...it s the law!
if you want get a work permit, come as a captain and with 5000 hours jet.

I heard something bout Wizzair hiring low time 320 TR. But, they askin for Frozen ATP wondering how does a FAA guy gets around that one?

I too have applied to plenty... they asked for my documents and havent heard a word. this for me has been goin on since Apr08.
Airlines post vacancies for 200hr CPL 100 PIC guys... but havent got any replies...

Makes me wonder!
