EU pilots, thinking to build jet hours in India?

well ,guess what, it is over...not expats in india after june 08.
and that 's a good and bad new.
good new to stop this pay to work scam,
and bad new for the good ailines who were employing and paying their expat pilots.

so if you are thinking to pay aTRTO, then pay a company in India to log some 200-300 hours on the bus or the boeing, forget it cuz you wont receive a work permit there...:(

I believe this is for Ex-Pat First Officers only.

I got friends going there soon, with Indigo, so I think this is not true, or will they be kicked, and leave their seats in the cockpit empty?

and what abot hte contract they signed?

I have heard that the Indigo deal is now off for all concerned as a result of this ruling. Just third hand information but that's what I heard.

IMP Question

Hi,wazzup,just new in this forum.
I was asking about this new rule of the dgca of india, the question is that im a spanish cpl holder (JAR)and spanish nationality, but at the same time i hold Indian PIO Card(person with indian origin),so if this rule goes on,as no expat pilots will be hired unless they convert their licence,am i able to work having PIO Card?ive been told just a week back that with that,im allowed to work in india for 2 years, that what is by the law for expat, and in that span of time its upto me to convert to indian if want to continue with the job.what do you say abt that?

Cheers...

coolio.

That's about the strength of it. With a PIO you can work in India but the DGCA will not validate your JAA licence, you will have to convert to an Indian one.

coolio545 24th Mar 2008 22:45

flinstone, thanks for your reply.Do you know how long it takes to convert your licence?Ive already seen in dgac page the written exams, morse and rtr one has to do,but dont know time it can take...ive also been said that there is a lot of corruption,so ppl can pay por conversion as well?
Ive not been in india since 1998 and dont know how´s that now,one friend of another friend is going now also to india for building hours in airline,he will pay himself type rating and has about 200 hours,so what n whom to believe?
