Where to go after light turbine experience??
 

Afternoon chaps!

I have over 1800 hours and the best part of 500 of those on light turbines. However airlines such as Easyjet either take you as a cadet (along with guys with 200hrs) or want you to have medium/heavy turboprop experience. I'm kinda stuck in the middle. Wheres the best place to go? Really after a jet job next!

Easyjet will take you as a TRSS, or if not i would suggest RyanAir.

So would I be in the same "pool" as guys straight out of oxford with 200hrs?

Nope TRSS is for guys with TP experience. If you have an ATPL you will go in as an SFO but will have a reduced pay for 5 years to pay for your rating
Cadets get 1000 a month for 6 months then are on an FO's salary

I assume in your example you are referring to Easy. Is there an email address that I can write to because on their website it specially asks (when you click the TRSS box) that you have medium/heavy experience. Dont want to click only to find out later that my application has been thrown out.

I would have thought Netjets would be worth a pop - sounds like your experience levels would be ideal for an FO posn with them.......Good luck

Apply to Netjets Europe.
1500 hours is the min with 500 hours multipilot. You might have to get bits of paper from your company saying your King Air time's multicrew and if you haven't done so, do a MCC.

Do the type rating and do the LST. Voila, 1 full ATPL. Or, do the 500 hours on a multipilot type and then voila, ATPL.

Either way, the money's not bad and there's no charge for the type rating.

easyJet's recruiting for the hold pool at the moment.

For Easyjet, you'd have to apply via the CTC ATP scheme, which is closed right now. The TRSS scheme is for guys who've flown heavier TP's. Why not try BMI Regional, they are expanding and value your kind of experience. It does seem to take them a while to get back to you though.

I am in a similar boat to you, i have over 1800 hours, 1100 Turbine and 160 Jet, both Mulit crew, and Airlines not interested either. I have gone back into Corporate which maybe a good idea for you.

Only Airline that was interested were Flybe, but i couldnt get any info out of them. Try BAC express, i think they want people and your close tocommand hours i think according to PPJN.

NJE, GAMA, LEA or MAS would be my suggestions.

Unless you dislike GA, why not apply to people who will value and so reward your experience? Command in a couple of years or so and a decent package with the right company. Then you can decide, on your terms, whether to go Orange...

Thanks chaps for your replies. Even though I love GA and the people you meet I cant help but feel that at the ripe old age of 30 I need to join an airline now or I may miss the boat.

I'm 33, been flying light turboprops for ages, and just joined NJE. I'm very excited and looking forward to start working for a professional organisation.
Unlike you I don't think I'm missing out on anything by not getting in to an airline. On the contrary!

My advice is, get a job in a company and get some experience in the variety of commercial operations - bet it airline or not - before another international crisis hits the world again. Get you name on the seniority list! You can always change career path later again...
