Recruiting now!

Question, how is the average integrated or modular graduate meant to get on the employment ladder?
Looking at an Airline industry recruitment paper a First Officer on say a Fokker 50 will have a Type rating - 1500hrs TT, 300hrs hands on, just an example.
Dash - 8, 500hrs turboprop, oh and the job's based Japan!
Comments and experiences gratefully accepted.

Good point. From what I understand looking at the airlines websites many ask for 500 hours on type. How are you meant to get that. So even a guy with 1500 tt on light aircraft cant apply and I thought these were good times.

hours!!!!

The point you guy's are missing is once you do finally do get employed 1500hours comes up very quickly!!!! And If you want to enough it will happen!!!!!

In some parts of the world it only takes one and a bit years to get!!!!!! One year not so long ago I did 1250hrs!!!!! Not legal in the first world!!!! But just goes to show you how quick things happen!!!!!

thats my 5 shillingis worth!!!!!!!

Oh!!!! And before I forget there is no such thing as "Zero to Hero" unless you fork out for it!!!!!!!! Which I don't recommend!!!!!!

Happy Landings!!!!!!

Sounds like you are looking at jobs via an agency or the airline is advertising for experienced crew. Airlines will take a number of non-type rated pilots, but they will take them directly, not via an agency most of the time.

Don't get disheartened, keep trying to get your foot on the ladder, but don't get yourself down by looking at the large number of ads that are advertising for experienced crew. If you do that, then you'll get disheartened.
Keep trying and trying..eventually you will get a break and many people who have been in your situation before their career started will say the same.
