Atlantic Airlines interview
 

Hello Ppruners,

has anyone of you gotten a phone call for a assessment day with Atlantic Airlines (F/O L188) for this week as well?

I am very interested to hear what the company is like to work for (culture, roster, flying routes, plans for expansion) and perhaps some advice on the interview?

Does AA expect you to sign a bond with them or is it another "pay for own rating" sort of deal?
Any information would be much appreciated, thank you!

Hi Beertender,

I had a call yesterday, my first positive response in over 12 months of trying.

Unfortunately, their start date is 4 Nov, which leaves me inadequate time to resign from my current job if successful.

I don't even have enough leave left to attend the 3 separate assessment procedures (psych/numeracy, sim, interview), so would have to pull a sicky. Plus I own a house, so moving to within 30 mins of Coventry wouldn't happen overnight either.

My guess is they have had people drop out of the ground school at the last minute and need to fill the places very quickly.

I'm pretty gutted really; my first call for assessment, but with an impossible timescale for me to meet. If I had an extra month before ground school, I'd definitely attend the assessment.

If any wannabes out there have over 1000 hrs and can make the 4 Nov start date, it might be worth giving Sylvia a call.

Have you tried ringing Atlantic to find the answers to your questions. Im sure that they would be most helpful. All the best with the interview:ok:

Thanks for your reply. I think I understand where you are coming from, it's a very though decision and I do respect you for it!
At least they are considering your CV (out of probably thousands) which is a good sign, so don't give up, you are just warming up! I am in a somewhat similar position (although I am not house owner). Just started a new job here and I would have to drop everything to make it work in a very tight schedule,on a short notice. I am sure more opportunities will arise for you soon, just keep up the good work and keep on applying..
TH 71: Thank you. tried to phone them but got an answering machine with a "out of office" recording. I will definitely give them another ring and I hope it will help me (and others) to sort things out before making the effort to fly to the UK. I would love to fly the "good ol' Electra" for them! P.S. wondering if you are invited by AA or other companies as well?

As for me, I would love to hear from other pilots flying for AA or who went through the assessment too,

Thanks for the encouragement.

I spoke to Sylvia today; it appears they always recruit about a month before ground school starts, but they're slightly later this time due to being busy acquiring new aircraft (ATP).

She says they will be recruiting again in the future, so my CV is still in the "drawer".

I was able to get some information from Sylvia about the training: ground school is 3 weeks, followed by a week of first aid/crm etc. Then 10 days in Seattle on the simulator before returning to the UK for a week or so flying training. Then line training. You should be ready to complete the line check after 3 months. You're on half pay until that point and they only need you to be within 30 mins of Coventry from that point onwards.

As long as I can get a couple of extra weeks notice for my current employer, I'll definitely be interested if I get a call in future. Three months should hopefully be long enough to sell or rent my house.

Also, check your PM's.

I have heard from a friend of mine that AA offer a bond for 3 years at 41K for the Electra as most of the training is done on the ac.. does anyone know if this dimishes over time or stays 41K until the end of the 3years
