Whats a Training Bank Guarantee???

Just wondered when doing a Type Rating if the company require a Training Bank Guarantee whats does this mean??

I think it means: if you fail the type course they will want their money back.

They can ask for a bank guarantee which basically says the bank has the money ready, should the company want it
