GAPAN fATPL

Hi,

Anyone got any advice / news / opinions regarding the GAPAN fATPL program ??

Anyone got new of any other scholarship programs??

Benashy7 3rd Mar 2005 09:20

Anyone know what the ATPL selection is like?

jimbols6 7th Mar 2005 16:42

does anybody know which flying schools are GAPAN approved?

ATP_Al 8th Mar 2005 10:57

As far as I know, GAPAN puts out tenders to the four big integrated schools - CABAIR, Oxford, Jerez and West Michigan Uni. They then decide where the scholar goes.

P.S. Has anyone else been awarded one of the FI scholarships, as I'll definately be applying. Any advice would be much appreciated!

obsidianUK 16th Mar 2005 19:24

Not that it will stop me applying, but why does the requirments for the JOC specify that you have completed an integrated FATPL?

I dont want to start another mod-integ rant, it just seems a bit unfair.

obs.

Any restrictions regarding non-UK residents? I'm also interested in the JOC. What exactly is included? I can't find any more info than the PDF doc at their website...

Gapan Schools

It's not just the "Big Four" that Gapan awards scholarships to... they have used Flightpass at Exeter (www.flightpass.co.uk) the last 2 years I believe, as they have a high first time pass rate and a top standard.

Guys

Does the pre entry flight test need to be done before the application goes in?

thanks

For those who have enquired about nationality requirements, the decision should really rest with the scholarship provider. Nevertheless, the matter is being referred to the Guild's Flying Awards Committee for their consideration.

danielwong216 10th Apr 2005 16:40

Where can i find a list of GAPAN approved flying school? Is East Midland Flying Club an approved school?
Many Thanks!

danielwong216 10th Apr 2005 23:22

And how many PPL they will take?
Thanks!

Quango - suggest you download http://www.gapan.org/career/scholarships/ppl2005.pdf , fill it in and send it by post to the Guild before 15 Apr 05.

PhilM 15th Apr 2005 07:52

BEagle, thanks for this post! If it hadn't of been here I'd not have applied (Not heard of GAPAN before now, only Air League/RAES). :ok:

BEagle 15th Apr 2005 17:49

Thank you for your kind words - and good luck to all our scholarship applicants.

Quango; I was awarded, 'The Cranwell Scholarship', a couple of years back now. I seem to recall that those of us who applied posted a fair bit on here. Use the search feature to check through old posts on it.

In general, I can thoroughly recommend it. Definitely don't squander an opportunity to apply! One of the things that struck me was that it wasn't just the flying as such which this scholarship presents, but it gives you the opportunity to meet lots of very interesting people and really get a headstart on any aviation related ambitions you have.
The main things I remember thinking/doing at the time was to do your research (on GAPAN, the industry, Armed Forces, etc), really know why you wanted the scholarship and what you wanted to do long term, be honest and be yourself.

I applied myself and I am still waiting for the reply. I just wanted to know if I have to dress formally for the interview and how long is it?

Thanks:ok:

Foxsports,

I was in the same situation as you when I first applied - I put predicted grades on the application form and there didn't seem to be a problem!

Good luck :ok:

PhilM 29th Apr 2005 18:41

Any applicants on here heard anything back?

Not had anything myself thus far (even a reciept of application - if they bother with such things), and interviews start mid-may, so those lucky enough to get that far should be hearing soonish I'd guess.:}
