Requirements for piloting jobs abroad
 

Hope this is the right forum...

I'm graduating from college in March with a Bachelors in Aviation, well trained with an FAA Muilti-Engine Instrument Commercial certificate with Flight Instructor's Certificate as well and a little less than 400 hours. (not much I know)

I'm interested in flying abroad maybe in Europe for an airline. English is my native language, I'm fairly well-spoken in Spanish, and Hebrew.

What kind of hurdles, requirements, etc am I looking at to get a job with a European airline (or Israeli) Including hour requirements, nationality reqs, language reqs, etc...

For European airlines you will need the right to live and work in the countries of the EU. That basically means you or your parents must be nationals of an EU country - much the same as the rules for working in the USA. You'll also need to be fluent in both English and the language of your chosen country of residence. On top of that, your FAA ATPL is next to useless in Europe; you would have to undergo a conversion to a JAA ATPL. That's expensive, at least in Britain, especially for someone with few hours. You may find it's cheaper in other European countries. Anyway, what I'm trying to say is it isn't easy to come here and work, just as it isn't in the US!

The situation is Israel is bad and unsure.
the equation is very simple:
the flight companies are few and very small and the Air-force is huge, so ex-military guys are just everywhere.
happily, EL-AL was sold to private owners just recently and I believe that brings some hope:
the company will soon understand that guys like you are more profitable to hire than a 40 years old military Helicopter pilot with no civilian experience and with a wife, 4 kids and a nice car to support.
Arkia is for sale, you can try to buy it and than fly for yourself...:)

I am Israeli with a German passport, hoping to commence my training in Spain soon.
I will give it a go in Israel as soon as I have got some flight time to offer, but I am not counting on it.
