Calling All Wannabes

I was wondering if I could get a roll call of the wannabes using this site while looking for employment and the different levels of experience that everyone is hoping to secure a job with? I think most people would like to know whom they are stacked up against.

If this is a repeat post then disregard.
:hmm:

flat-tire 25th Nov 2003 23:07

I'll start, 1300tt and 125 multi-engine, mainly all piston instruction time. Hoping to fly something with a turbine soon.:D

CAT3C AUTOLAND 26th Nov 2003 02:01

Flat Tire, surely you must have flown an aircraft with a turbo charger in it. The old turbine driving the old centrifugal impellor :D.

flat-tire 26th Nov 2003 02:13

Actually I haven't..........the 310 doesn't have one.

I only get to hang out in the low altitudes, but I think you know what I meant about turbine.

Smart A** :p

Speevy 26th Nov 2003 04:24

It sounds like a good idea,

1000 TT 100 multi only piston time and most of it through flying instruction.
FAA and soon JAA rated.

Hoping to fly a turbine soon (I will let you know)

Good luck and good flying

Speevy

Homer_J 26th Nov 2003 16:46

About 980hrs tt with about 400hrs driving a pa31.

he he, and our boss keeps muttering the turbine.

Is it christmas soon?

akshaym84 26th Nov 2003 17:00

No experience (yet) but a bloody good education that should prove useful when airlines want newbies! Well, here's hoping. Just out of interest, do they really care about that sort of thing when it comes to sponsorships? I'd have thought they're training people up anyway, so prior experience would prove useful but not essential. Comments appreciated.

CAT3C AUTOLAND 26th Nov 2003 17:03

FT,

Sorry, could not resist ;).

I know you mean two Roll Royce Trents buzzing away under each wing, wouldn't that be nice!

To now answer your question, I am in the early stages of flying training. Just finished ATPL study and just started CPL training. Hoping to work for an airline or maybe private charter work.

How does the Cessna 310 go, just out of interest?

flat-tire 26th Nov 2003 17:42

CAT3C AUTOLAND

Good luck on you training!

I do love the 310 but it seems to be a bit hard on the students. It's not very forgiving on landings. Other than that she is a beautiful bird, she flies fast and looks good doing it. Especially when you pull up to the pumps and you sit higher than all those Pipers.......Gives a warm fuzzy feeling until the local G-V pulls on the ramp. Then your not so cool anymore.:D

CAT3C AUTOLAND 26th Nov 2003 17:52

Thanks for the response. Hopefully I will have that all to come. I was in Naples a few weeks ago, and there was a Cessna 310 on the ramp standing by for maintenance. I was not aware how big they were, until I inspected it up close. Just need to fly one now :D.

Good luck yourself sir, maybe even see you in the sharp end one day.

aardvark keeper 26th Nov 2003 18:06

tailscrape 28th Nov 2003 05:33

Aardvark,

How do you get an ATPL without any multi crew time?

Even though you have enough hours for an ATPL, I would have thought you would only have a FROZEN ATPL?

The Yank 28th Nov 2003 05:57

Tailscrape

UK ATPL cause I's got one as well

Say again s l o w l y 28th Nov 2003 07:24

A UK ATPL could be had with 1500TT and 100 Hrs night, there was no multi crew requirement unlike now.

aardvark keeper 30th Nov 2003 00:14

I got the desirable green wallet-uk, when there was no requirement for the multicrew.

I worked 6 months to blast off 90 hours night, foc instructing to got the atpl at about 1600 tt to satisfy the night req for 100.

The aim was to try and get on a different pile, other than the fatpl, but it doesn't seem to have made any difference. Havent had a sniffter in ages

flat-tire 30th Nov 2003 00:34

Loony_Pilot 2nd Dec 2003 08:22

CAA F/ATPL current IR, 1000hrs 50multi, currently instructing on an "ad hoc" basis through the winter season.
Seriously considering a type rating..
anyone going to the Gatbash.. see you there!!

Goldfinger 2nd Dec 2003 20:15

JAA Frozen ATPL 285 tt 60 multi and 130 PIC + MCC/CRM

Over 20 months, two interview/assessment days and thats it. Better than nothing but like the 850 odd pilots in the UK looking for work (And many others in Europe) its easier to get a job with the Devil or McDonalds. If its Rocking Horse S**t that you are after I can get hold of it but a flying career........well we all know that story.

To be honest we don't often hear that word mentioned much on Pprune...flying "career"......everybody talks about getting the next job. But perhaps its worth hearing from those who are leaving the ranks for retirement and ask how to stay in when times are bad ?

Keep the nose to the grindstone and lets hope everyone has a much better 2004. 2003 has certainly been an annus horriblis.

:} :} :}

Jockflyer 5th Dec 2003 04:57

CAA Frozen ATPL, MCC, 1400TT, 120Multi, 400 Turbine, 2yrs charter schedule experience.

Just resigned from a job flying Grand Caravan in Zambia, to come home and look for a job on mud island. Good idea or not.....I'll tell you in 4 months!

Good luck everyone.
