sponsorship: age and experience??!

i have become more and more interested in flying as a career over the past couple of years but - unfortunately - cannot fly. do i need to learn privately before i even start to think about looking into sponsorships etc? if so what should i be looking to learn in and to what standard.
also, i am approaching 24 years old, is this too old to look for sponsorship? (nothing too rude please!)

I started applying for sponsorship 2 years ago and had no flying experience at that time. I managed to get through the first couple of stages with no flight experience, so it man not be that important.
I now have my ppl, which I got because I love to fly. I hope to progress through to atpl standard if my sponsorship applications prove unsuccessful.
I am getting through the various stages of sponsorship programmes just now and that is with flight experience. My experience shows that you don't need flight experience to apply for sponsorship.
If you are going to learn to fly, I suggest you do it for fun and not in the hope that it will help you through selection.
All the best,
Russell.

Im in the same situation as you Si, 24 years old and looking to begin training/sponsorship next year. Where do people think is the best place to find out about sponsorships schemes? And should I begin attending them even though I cannot begin until earliest Oct 04?

Thanks.
