Experiance levels on the TRSS
 
I was wondering if anyone who has attended a TRSS course with easy jet could comment on the experience levels of the other candidates?

I am in my mid 20s and have just over 500 hours, 320hrs turbo prop (multi crew euro transport company) into major airports and the other 180 at an approved school. I was wondering if this experience level would cut it with the recruitment team?

Any comments would be much appreciated.

I could name a half dozen turboprop captains at my work with somewhere between 5 and 10 times that level of experience, who can't even raise a rejection letter out of them :(

Send in an application. Let them decide if you're what they are after. You have nothing to lose. Also, starts to build up a "story" with them.

One of our captain's is off to them, he has about 2500 hours with 1000 hours in command of the mighty Shed. Mid 30's. Another captain has an interview coming up. Late 20's, prob ~1000 hours command.
I'm hoping I'll get a call too. (5000 hours TT, 1800 turbine, no command turbine yet - from Australia, late 30's)
A couple of FO's have had interviews (age unknown, exp ~500-1200 hours on the Shed. Not successful I believe)
All found the interview itself ok.

So, there's an idea of the demographics.

It's a rip-off, if Easyjet recruitment were enlightened they would realise that just because someone has a couple of jet hours does not make them the best candidate.

P. S I do not wish to work for easy, just an observation.

Maybe miss van Vinkel would care to comment?

I believe the TRSS requires a min' of a frozen ATPL and 500hrsTT. For those having gone through the CTC AQC it's the basic frozen ATPL 200hr mark after selection.

I think it's becoming more and more common today to see a lot of frozen ATPL holders getting into the low costers after selection proceedures. The reasoning behind it? Well it's selected, qualified, and suitable pilots who are willing to pay for their own rating, willing to work for first couple of years on relatively low pay, and have a fresh outlook as far as no previous knowledge to other airline sop's (not that I personally would consider that so bad).

So can't say for sure, but as easy state a min of 500hrs for their TRSS, I think this rules out nobody and on this particular scheme you'll find people will have ALL experience levels from ppl instructors with 1500hrs, to turbine captains with 3000hrs on the courses.

I suspect you'd have more chance via the CTC ATP scheme with 500hrs - with your multi-crew experience you'd probably do really well. Be about the same cost in the end with 6k for AQC and then reduced pay for 6 months. (Bond-free at the end of the 6 months though as I understand it). AQC is basically the same (but more of) as the Adv Handling Course on TRSS. However, this route will have a longer wait time to being 'called up' and ATPs are much smaller proportion of the total intake for eJ than TRSS.

The people I've seen on TRSS have a lot more than 500hrs but I have heard of those who know someone getting in with TP experience around this level.
