Monday Updates?

Why should there have been an update on Monday?... Is that what the December email indicated to expect?

How often are you updated about the database size and movement?

There did seem to be a lot of optimism regarding demand from the ATP pool, from both instructors and cadets in the past 3 months.

Does anybody know if the flexi-crew contract is here to stay or is BALPA & EZY permanent pilots working against it to good effect?

EGMC:- There isn't an update every Monday. Some ATP guys are required for Easyjet for February so there were some emails asking people who was interested. We now know who has been selected from the pool for the easyjet assessment. It looks like they've taken about 10 people which is great news for those who have been waiting for 2 years+, and positive news for the rest of us. We are waiting for further news and an updated hold pool list. Interesting yet quite predictable that not everyone applied for the opportunity. I wouldn't have thought guys in the ATP pool could afford to be picky but then also some of the pool could be employed elsewhere by now.

We are only updated when there is a requirement, the rest of the time we don't hear anything. The cadets are updated every month I understand but ATP's have to either befriend cadets or others in the know to get the required info.

Anyway it's positive that the pool has moved. The next guess of course is whether easy will need more of the ATP guys next month or if from now on the cadets coming back from NZ will be able to satisfy demand. Any thoughts guys?

Well done to those who were selected!

OK, thanks- So there is an updated ATP pool list due to be sent out. You are implying that 10 ATP guys are on the Feb TR for EZY, and that those 10 were not consecutively placed as you say not everyone applied for the opportunity.

If somebody has found employment and had a TR outside of CTC, then surely they are no longer in the pool. Also, does anybody believe that there are people saying no to the current offer, in an attempt to wait for more favourable T&C's?

I doubt that the CTC cadet stream is sufficient to fulfil the partner airline requirement, especially if one other airline has a one-off order... Lets hope

Good luck to everybody swimming!

EGMC - I don't know if the people taken were consecutive in the pool but no, not everyone applied for the deal - roughly 2/3 I would estimate it at.

If people in the pool get a job elsewhere then CTC aren't to know unless the person tells them, so they do essentially remain in the pool. I know of 5 people at Ryanair who are still in the pool as they never told CTC. So the current list is very hard to know exactly where you are in it. So you could be 40th but 30 people ahead of you may have jobs but you aren't to know. Those 30 people of course can't then apply for the positions CTC offer you so you would be pleasantly surprised if 10 people were offered jobs!

Who knows whether the cadets can fulfil the current requirement. If there's 12 a month coming out of NZ, or whatever the figure is, I would imagine they only Type Rate 12 people a month for easy too? So sure, if a magical new carrier comes to them things may look good for ATPers but currently having been in the pool so long it's hard to get upbeat about it. I'd love to think we'd be plucked from the pool soon but without knowing any figures it's impossible to guess. Fingers crossed though. And at least it's moving however slowly that is.

Dont be foolish and assume that CTC WINGS guys get jobs straight after training. You should ask how many renewals CTC will complete for the wings guys!

That's great news that Monarch are taking that amount of Pilots! But offering places to 8 that haven't passed an IR test seems to go against what the CTC website states about placing ATP Pilots, in particular the last line of the following paragraph....
"Please note: On completion of the AQC, providing you have met the required standard for CTC Wings, you will be placed on the CTC Wings ATP database awaiting any type rating and airline placement opportunities with one of our partner airlines. The CTC Wings ATP database augments the CTC Wings Cadet hold pool. Pilots on the CTC Wings ATP database will be called up for type ratings when we do not have enough cadets ready and available for type rating."

I guess it's down to how soon Monarch want them.

Yes, but they've also taken an additional 8 cadets currently doing their IR for type rating straight away, line flying by Summer 2012 (on condition of first time IR pass).

Around 10 pilots have just been placed from the ATP pool, and if next year is anything like this year then many more are likely to follow. About 140 wings cadets should complete their training in 2012, this year CTC has placed over 270 pilots.

No, in fact it was 10 cadets and all of them had completed their IR's when they were interviewed.

That's not what I heard, but other than correcting minor details, what point are you trying to make?

StevieW, Beazlebub is correct.

The cadet pool is now pretty much empty, with eJ type ratings in late Jan now confirmed, Mon taking 10 who had finished the IR and AQC in the last month or so, and with 18 other cadets which have been selected for another airline; the prospect of ATP cadets getting a call for TR from Feb onwards is now v likely.

Ok, that's fair enough. It's only a minor detail, and as I said in the Wings thread, we only tend to hear things through the grapevine.

do you know which airline the other 18 cadets have gone to?
18 went to Qatar Airways.

What kind of contract can you ATP guys expect with e.g. EZY? How much do you need to pay for the type rating?

It's not a very relevant question because after you've been in the pool for over 2 years after the course the terms of placement will almost certainly of changed (assuming Easy are still taking cadet pilots then anyway).

Base your decision to join the scheme on the quality of training you will be recieving and view the possiblity of airline placement as an added bonus, it is by no means guaranteed.

Does anybody from CTC/EZY know: If the present level of training/recruitment of cadets will continue through the busy summer period?
The Winter period is when an airline would normally allocate resources toward getting a full compliment of crew on the line- But I am not sure how this will fit in with an airline which has a steady increase in fleet size scheduled.

I am hoping that Easy will have a steady demand throughout the year, and not need to slow down expansion... I guess it comes down to utilising the aircraft they have with the operational demand first, any excess resource can be put toward training- is that how it will generally work?

EGMC, you'll probably get a better response asking that sort of question in the terms and endearment forum. I can't imagine there are too many senior Easyjet pilots in the know that monitor this forum.

Plinky, It is definitely worth posting there too thanks- there are some CTC/EZY trainers/pilots on this thread too, so hopefully I have posted in the right place to get their attention as well.

So to go for the CX deal (again) or wait for EJ? IS the cadet pool still empty and who thinks it's worth waiting?
