It's going to take more than a few months to get through the selection to the AQC. If you don't get an MCC you are effectively unemployable during that time. As you understand, making it through the process is an off chance so you'd be wise not to bank on CTC, and do an MCC somewhere else.
Also, if you bust the AQC (20%ish chance), I believe that you won't be issued an MCC anyway.

Fair weather flyer, no offemce mate, but do you know what you are talking about? U say it will take "more than a few months to get through to selection to the AQC". On what do you base this statement?

Having done all four phases, I'd say that I do.

My time from first application to AQC was six months, about average I'd say.

Badboy Ruggamuffin,

4-6 months without an MCC can't be that much of a big deal. The chance with CTC is far better than any chance you might have applying to a major airline as a low hours modular student anyway. It's got to be worth the wait and gamble. I've long understood it to be the way FWF has just described it.

I applied in Feb 06 and completed AQC in June 06. FWF seems to be spot on!

Cheers for the replies everyone. So you say it takes a few months from application through to starting the AQC, what I was really getting at was how long does it take from putting in your application to being accepted on to the AQC, ie how long is the period of "MCC uncertainty" likely to be?

It was about 4 months for me from applying to being accepted onto the AQC. But I did an MCC while I was waiting for the ATP scheme to re-open and in the meantime got a job offer on a turboprop as a result. I effectively wasted the £2k MCC because I did it again during the AQC, but having done it allowed me to apply for other jobs and give myself a backup plan should the AQC not have worked out as planned.

Giving this thread a bit of a bump.

It's not been used recently much to my dismay as I've only recently discovered this forum.

I know since this topic is hardly used this may seem like an odd question but:

Anyone got thier Stage 3 on the 11th July?
I've got mine then and I'm hitting a bit of a panic.

I was told there was a page of questions on the "old old CTC topic" but I've searched and searched for it and can't seem to find that topic anywhere. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks.

Larno, Are you in with the guys who had their stage 3 (for ATP scheme) suspended untill further notice earlier this year?

Just wandered, as this could be a sign that CTC are confident that things are going to start moving again in the pool.

cheers

CTC ATP Program... a little help here... ;)

Hey everyone, I have been reading through this thread, and still haven't seen any updated info on how the program works.

I just completed an integrated ATPL, so mine is frozen, and have also completed an MCC course through Alitalia.

I was just accepted today to go on to phase 2 of the ATP program and was looking for a little advice. Someone earlier in the thread mentioned that they had a few example questions... share please...

Has anyone gone through recently? What should I expect? What can I study to prepare myself a bit more?

It has been a while for me since I was last in school... 1995 high school, 1999 university, and then I did 5 years in the Air Force...

Needless to say, aside from the ATPL course that I did (we used the OAT books), I haven't been in the study mode for a while now.

Just looking for a little guidance, someone who will ease my stress...

Cheers

i went through the ATP selection quite a year ago. Not passed more than 1 and 2 phase, got stopped in the third one due substantially to poor english...
I'll be glad to tell you my experience, sorry if i cannot do it now (lack of time to write it!).
If you'd like you can phone me on 334-3438860
I am Maurizio!

word of advice to Maurifly...

Send your phone number using the PM function rather than posting on an open forum like this one...
I think it would be a better idea...

Jaws, just out of interest..........

When did you apply to CTC ATP and how?

Their online application has been closed for quite some time.

Anyone gone through CTC ATP recently???

Just wanted to find out if anyone has gone through the CTC ATP course recently.

I tried to ask them what I can use to study and prepare, but with no reply... If anyone has any suggestions, I am open to anything. Better yet, if anyone has gone through recently and wouldn't mind giving me a heads-up as to what I can expect. I have been out of the classroom for some time now and don't know how much I need to refresh.

Help Please!!

ps-Maurofly-thanks for your offer, but I think that they have changed the whole thing since you went through... cheers

I know this isn't strictly on topic but I'm looking to apply for the ATP scheme (actually iCP first then onto ATP) so it's not completely irrelevant!

Having only flown briefly with the ATC and UAS (and they were a while ago) I was thinking about having a few lessons as a bit of a refresher. Should give me a chance to find out for sure whether flying is for me and also show some commitment to the guys at CTC.

Anyway, just wondering if anyone could suggest a good flying school to go to around north London? Elstree's pretty close to me and I've noticed Cabair do a few taster sessions from there. 5 hours for around £600? Reasonable?

By the way if there's an actual "which flying school" forum I've missed please feel free to point me in the right direction!

You do realise that the ATP scheme is currently shut with people in the pool for over a year.

If you go on the iCP scheme then there are still no guarantees that the ATP scheme will become open for you.

Happy Days

From the CTC Forum.

CTC Wings ATP Re-Opens For Applications...

Hi all...we have today re-opened the on-line application system as a result of some significant movement from the holding pool recently (20 pilots have already been placed in 2008 with partner airlines Jet2.com, First Choice, Thomas Cook and the new partner airline in Vietnam, Pacific Airlines). In addition to this activity, we are in discussion with both existing and potential new partner airlines and we anticipate an increase in requirement for pilots over the coming months. Please leak the news to all your friends, colleagues etc
Good Luck.

Has the TCX guys already been allocated? (if so I guess the cadets got all of the positions) ........ or is there a chance to empty the pool and send the remaining ATPers to TCX?

Cheers

Phase 2

Hello there,

I've been given a date for phase 2 selection for the ATP scheme. I was just wondering if anybody has been on a selection recently or is this one at the end of January the first once since its been re-opened? If anybody has had any past experiences of the maths tests or aptitude tests I'd be ever so grateful to hear from you.

Cheers folks!

Hi

I've also been given a date for phase 2 selection. Would like to know what previous experiences have been like?

Thanks
