I see we have a RYR fan here. Can you really defend the cadets’ current salary of around 1300 euros a month? For these cadets who already paid 30k+ And pay for their own uniform. It is outrageous. It’s a company that is indefensible in actions such as these.

Hi guys,

Is there anyone here who’s recently been contacted to go pass the sim and HR assessment?

I did the online assessment two weeks ago, after what I received an email last week saying I had successfully pass the tests, my name was added to the “holding pool” and I would be contacted soon for further assessment dates. Nothing since then.

I don't really understand people supporting Ryanair and its practices. I mean I really can't. That makes me more furious than what Ryanair is doing. I am myself a low hour pilot with no experience and I do have the opportunity to apply in Ryanair for this program. But I would rather gamble in a casino than waste it in Ryanair. People should understand that rejecting such disgraceful "offers" is the only means we have to change things in our favour. 5000k and a bond yes. That would be interesting and a decent offer. If no one applied in this "thing" Ryanair would have to change the terms on our benefit. But no. People keep coming here asking about the interview and how to get prepared for it. Pity..

The point is that this thread is not supposed to host your whinges. Open another one maybe in the Terms and Conditions section. It's really that simple.

It's I agree, but while you go ahead with your ethics (which has never paid by the way) you won't go far ahead with starting your career for the time being. Ryanair are simply back to what they had been doing for years before 2018 and it has worked for them and the cadets, it will still work now.

Factually incorrect, there are pilots at Ryanair who came from, AirUK(Buzz), Maersk, Jet time, Sterling, Monarch, BA Connect, Jet2, Norwegian, FlyBe, TUI, Emirates, Qatar, Etihad, Transavia, Easyjet etc. who have all experienced better!

What utter I am not a fan of SSTR but its been like that for a long while and I dont see it changing at any of the major LOCOs.
Which airline did you recruit for?
Every single pilot in both seats that I know over the last 15 years that actively wanted out - got out. The people I know that stayed wanted to stay. Simple as that.

Are you questioning the operating standards of Ryanair guys? If so, then you are a Sciolist at best. You are “preaching” that people at Ryanair have never flown anywhere else. I have.

Where do you think most of TUI and Jet2s rated 737 drivers over the last 10 years came from? I know quite a few personally that have upgraded to the LHS in TUI since 2018 and lot of DECs DEFOs that joined Jet2 since 2012. Norwegian, ASL…I could go on. And I will.

Where do you think countless current Standards Captains at EK and Training Captains/TREs at Qatar and Etihad came from?
Would it be hard for you to believe that there are or have been ex Ryanair guys (that I know personally) on the recruitment and Command assessment panels at all three of the above airlines.

BA Virgin and Aer Lingus have recruited a lots of guys over the years.

EZY ? Give me a break…. I think I know a handful at most that joined or even wanted to.
A cadet told me that Ezy have called a few guys for a 30k type rating and an 8 month contract. Is there an Ezy thread here about that or any truth to it?

Dont forget to put the clown suit on tomorrow. Clueless…

Check out "javeralvare Ryanair interview preparation" page on google. I can't share the url here due to the forum restrictions.
Start with this page if you haven't already done so. The guy provides some very useful info regarding the interview process. It's two or three years old but things haven't changed that much at least from what I could see a few weeks ago in my online test.

You can also train for FREE for the aptitude tests on PILOTEST
Personally I had the following tests during the online interview:
  • CUT-E - Reaction rate
  • CUT-E - Moving dots
  • CUT-E - Relative bearing indicator
  • CUT-E - Inductive logical thinking (one of the only two not mentioned above in Javer's page)
  • CUT-E - Runway multi-tasks: not exactly the same as during the assessment but very very similar. In the real one I didn't have to deal with a runway but had to choose to click on "LEFT" or "RIGHT" depending on the side an arrow with pointing at in the middle of a line of different other shapes.
  • CUT-E - Find the missing shape
  • CUT-E - Tube flight
On top of this I had a personality test, which I found really interesting by the way it was designed. Also an ATPL knowledge test which was ridiculously hard, especially because of the lack of time to think about anything: 30 questions in 10 minutes = 20 sec per question with some actually involving calculations . Unless you've been banking like crazy all the ATPL subjects before the assessment, I really don't understand how it's possible to get a decent score on this. And finally this weird video interview where you have some HR oriented questions and you need to talk in front of your computer for one minute to reply to each question.

Again all the aptitude tests are on PILOTEST for FREE. The tests are very similar to the real one and the difficulty level is even higher. Big shout out to these guys for providing this content that must require a significant amount of time in terms of coding. They only work with donations. And they must cover most of the tests used in the industry, not only for Ryanair.

Seems that a lot of websites out there charge you for this kind of stuff. Imo it's not worth the money.
After a friend recommended it, I did pay 30€ to airlineassessmentprep.com for their Ryanair package some days before my online assessment, even if I was already working with Pilotest. Really not worth it. I don't quite understand why my friend recommended it. Their ATPL knowledge test database was a bit of a joke (only 70 questions from which only 2 or 3 actually showed up in the real assessment). Same for the HR example questions for the video interview: none of them was actually in the real assessment. And poor programming of some aptitude tests: the missile test was lagging incredibly on my laptop.

I heard from other people that latestpilotjobs.com is better. They have apparently something like 800 ATPL questions in their bank. Still I don't think it's worth the money because in the end you only pay for the questions bank. You can find everything else for free on the web.

Someone like yourself should really learn how to read. You said I was preaching that RYR pilots have *never* anywhere else? I never said that. Don’t twist my words. And I will not say which airline I recruited for previously, for obvious reasons.

In normal times, there is a very big turnover cycle of pilots through RYR. Do people not realise that? My point is the relative number (percentage wise) who pass compared to other airlines’ pilots - it’s very poor. That does not mean that RYR pilots are unable to join any other company. You mentioned several carriers that RYR pilots have transferred to other operators and you are not wrong.

The standards of training within Ryanair are great; the safety record is first rate. I never said it wasn’t, however I cant help but laugh at all the people on LinkedIn and Instagram who are overjoyed at paying 30k (a type rating course costs a lot less by the way in case you didn’t realise) with no guarantee of a job, paying for your own uniform. It is so unethical. Unbelievable. The fact is a number (small or large) of people will be laid off after the training contract. It has happened before and it will happen again. Unfortunately some just wont meet the standard, that happens a lot in RYR. They may get extra sectors, or they will get binned. Binned after paying for a type rating/conversion course which the company made a profit from and paid awful wages too throughout.

Anyone has a right to question the low cost mentality, the management who hate pilots. Management that have had the audacity to put pilots as contractors and self employed contracts. CEO who doesn’t like the pilots. If it wasn’t for BALPA, it would be VERY bad.

You generalised and said existing Ryanair guys have never been anywhere else. I called you out because you were wrong. (If you have since deleted that part then fair enough,but you wont fool an old codger like me- I remember reading it)
You said many Ryanair pilots fail elsewhere at assessments. I called you out because you were wrong.
During the massive expansion at Norwegian between 2012 -2016 Ryanair FOs were exempt from sim check. But all others were not. Thats not saying candidates from other airlines were any worse or any better. But thats what Norwegian chose to do. Do you think they did that for fun ? Not one Ryanair candidate ever failed an OCC at Norwegian when quite a few others did. Was that just pot luck? I havent disputed any of the entry level Ts and Cs for cadets with you- So I am not sure who you are trying to convince.
You say “more or less” the cadets will be dropped after training contract finishes.
That wont happen if they reach the standard required to go out on the line. The cadets I have trained the last few months have been high standard. They mostly came from L3, CAE, AFA, and a few modular. IMHO and based on my experience over the last number of years I envisage that they will all pass and be kept on. I dont know one that wont. And to add to that, there will be a number of the UK/Irish guys out of that group joining since the summer that end up in TUI before the end of 2022. Thats the constant pattern I have seen first hand since 2011-12. But… you seem to be better informed than me….
Do yourself a favour and stick with the Clown suit.

If you lack the critical thinking required to identify a scam like this you will probably never be a successful pilot.
Go ahead, pay around 9000 euros for the aps mcc, 30000 for the type rating plus around 5000 minimum for your living expenses, uniform etc until you start line training and get payed around 1300 per month. In total you'll pay around =~ 44000 - 45000 euros in order to get a salary far less than a truck driver. Congratulations. You will probably get back the money you wasted in around 10 years. You deserve it.

The sad thing is that these kids will continue to pay these crazy large sums of money to fly for FR just to get ahead, it’s not their money anyway so don’t care, they’ve probably been gifted it by their parents so haven’t actually gone out and earned it in the real world like most of us, but these are the type of candidates Ryanair want. All this activity is helping destroy the terms and conditions of other airlines in Europe but again these new guys don’t care but only about themselves.

How easily actually things could be fixed and work on our benefit were we to be more skeptical and act cleverly. All of us. Imagine an ideal scenario where no one applied in Ryanair for this shameful option. In less than a month Ryanair would have to change the terms in our favour, probably asking for much less money and offering a contract with a bond, similar to the ones they've been offering before covid. But as long as there are people defending Ryanair and its tactics there is no hope for aviation.

You can’t stop people paying for the TR and working for peanuts, they’re not interested in making the industry a better place, they’re not even interested in the type rating, what they want is the 2000hrs on a jet so they can get an application in to a Flag Carrier or the ME, and for that, I think they would work for nothing. You won’t find many FATPL students who want a career in the LCC sector.
