Hello folks I hope everyone is doing well.

Does anyone have any info on the RYR assessment for the learjet 45? Any further info re contract / experience of this would be appreciated

Raising funds...

Random question...

Ryanair currently have 1.1B shares outstanding. Why not propose a share offering to raise funds to help provide a larger safety cushion. Offering another 50M shares will dilute the shareholders by 5 odd percent which is negligible considering the potential for price growth over the next 5 years. It will give the company another £850M cash and make a reduction in Type rating costs more feasible for the company from a financial standpoint. At the current price it will take 56,000 cadet TR contracts to raise that much cash...

Shareholders will be happier in the long term with the safety net for the next year or so of volatility and Ryanair will have a huge queue of cadets queuing up to apply with a less constrictive barrier to entry. Win win for everyone, no?

why would Molly dilute his shareholding and lower the sp to help reduce kids tr that are queueing up to pay him money?

this week alone they have asked for host families to house cabin crew students as its cheaper to house them in unchecked homes rather than pay for a hotel, staff welfare is not and never will be a consideration at ryr.

Write to the board woth your suggestion, don’t expect an answer here.

As an ex-pro-aviator, I cannot understand why anyone wants to join the airline industry these days.
I have had my time, enjoyed it, but would never consider it in todays climate.
I recently read about a pilot who went trucking and made 10K a year more.
Alright, no glamour, but bills must be paid, and where is the glamour in massive debts?

I wouldn't understand people going to a flight school at the moment but what about all of us that have invested a large amount of money and there is no way back? Who could imagine what would happen before a year and a half? We have to fight it and get the very first job. Opportunities will show up now or later. Of course Ryanair is not the solution.

Sound decision making can't be taught. It should be a basic quality of the average pilot. However, I worry anyone of these cadets who have accepted such an offer display the exact opposite of sound decision making.

Acting on impulse rather than sound judgement. On emotion rather than fact. On ego rather than humility.

Your decision, or lack thereof, has ramifications which will cause ripples in this industry for years to come. Know your worth.

spot on. Its the most boring and lonely job in the world, coupled with waking at 3am, its a proper rubbish job, zero thought has to go into it now, totally robotic.

I genuinely feel sorry for the early 20s instragrammers joining, the thought of doing the job for 40 years, and retiring on less money than when you joined the company is heart breaking.

What ryr and others are struggling to understand, they are driving terms so low, why would you bother doing this job when you can earn more as a trucker and not invest 100k in training. Then they may walk themselves into a shortage.

Not really, no. I disagree. Don't think it's a rubbish job. And when I fly with people that thing like that, it's always a miserable day of work.

Well it is lonely and the mornings are painful. The thought of paying 100k+ to end up at ryr on 16k isn’t particularly appealing either.

Well if you pay 100k for a license makes you stupid. I paid less than half of that.

I sincerely doubt you paid less than 50k for a licence, fees, accomodation, and type rating to ryr, not mention likely no income for 3 years of your life or part time earnings while you studied.

And if you dont think staring blindingly into space for 7-12 hours a day with a complete stranger , apart from twiddling the odd switch and tapping something into an ipad every now is boring, and then you should perhaps try a job that is actually challenging!

I have done many flying jobs, and had a career before, but this is the most mind numbing ever. I miss having a job that doesn’t have an sop to take a leak.

anyway, I have digressed. Main drama at the moment is pilots on forced unpaid leave, whilst at the same time huge recruitment on to rubbish contracts.

Look at Lauda in STN. They are paying experienced FO's £40 an hour. They will be leasing to ryanair, undercutting their own company.

Mark my words, give it 12 months, ryr will come back and say "oh, ryr dac contracts are no longer competitive against lauda, you need to sign this new pay cut". It is so blindingly obvious what is going to happen, amazing that pilots are so poor at seeing the big picture and why so many man hours by training departments go into trying to teach the big picture. Getting each tail within the group to outbid and out cost each other. Happened in TFS with Dac and bzz, soon to happen at a base near you!

I have to agree with Banana Joe here. One of the worst thing about flying career is when you're stuck with someone in the flight deck for 12 hours and all they do is moan, yet they don't do a single thing to change anything.

They hate the airplane, will they consider another fleet? No. They hate the company, will they consider moving somewhere else? No. They hate the profession, will they consider doing something else for a living? Also no.

As you can see, they also moan in here day in day out. Just terribly sad that people have nothing else to be doing other than moaning all day on the ryanair thread

I went modular and I have never worked for Ryanair. If we account accommodation and living expenses then we get close to 50k euro. But we are digressing.

I still think you should consider a career change. For your sanity first of all.

And unpaid leave so far has only been announced in UK bases. I hope I won't be proven wrong, but if that's the case then it's more to do with UK Govt's handling of travel restrictions and Brexit.
Heck, if I were to be AOG at a UK outstation for more than 2 days as a crew I would have to go through stupid Covid self-tests, etc. If it happened in any other country in the continent I would be good as long as I have a Covid pass.

Considering the current ryr scheme is 30k plus god only knows what else, you’re simply not gonna get a fATPL for 20k.

Have you worked prior to starting the training? How long did it take you to complete the training? Have you worked full-time throughout your training? You'd have to add of the unearned income + 50k + 30k + peanuts for the first year on the job to get the actual cost of the "dream" (as sold by Ryanair).

I worked to save up then went modular full time and got it done in 15 months. At the time I finished my training Ryanair's scheme was 5k upfront pay (did not pass the assessment) and the rest bonded. My current employer pays for the type rating, but I was rated when I joined as I had another job lined up in my home country. Hopefully the previous scheme one day will come back.

It was my decision to do my training full time, but modular training allows you to work and keep your job and mange your training pace as it best suits you.
