Wizz Air Application, 'auto disqualified'

So I recently submitted an application to Wizz Air, as their website claimsthat they are recruiting FOs straight out of flight school. Having not received any kind of 'thank you for your application' email, I logged back in to check and it says I have been 'auto disqualified'. There's no explanation given, and there don't appear to be any contact details for the recruitment department to find out more. As far as I'm aware everything on the application was textbook (min. hours, no accidents, no criminal record etc); the only thing out of the ordinary was they asked whether I've ever had any serious illness or operation, which I have many years ago, so I ticked 'yes'. I figure it must be this, but it doesn't seem remotely relevant or fair seeing as I have an unrestricted class 1. I was just wondering if anyone else had a similar experience or could shed any light on this.

I completely understand that in 2020 I'm a small fish in a very big pond, and it was a very optimistic application, but it's a bit upsetting to have spent so much time and effort making the CV and cover letter only to be rejected by a computer without so much as an acknowledgement.

If you send another fifty to different companies, you will probably be quite pleased with the result you have already had.

It is called "data harvesting". They now know everything about you without that they had to pay.

I had clicked the one about 'having serious illness and operation' as I had a surgery.

I know they collect your data but are you trying say that they don't really take in most of the applicants into assessments and is just trying to get data.

Today, however I had the surgery a longtime ago and spoke to the AME about this, to which they said I’m fine and spoke to many doctors too to which they said I shouldn’t have a problem with and have signed declarations from doctors which they say I’m fit and healthy.

Well that's weird, however I guess with the amoutn of applications they have, they will start rejecting ones that not meet the requirements, have anything out of the normal (eventhough it's not bad)... but i dont know

I know times aren’t the best right now for aviation but what does your application status say, does it say
“Default “?

As things stand now, I will be mightily surprised if there's any recruitment at Wizz for at least a year from now. They are currently planning to fly about 20% of their pre-COVID capacity in the coming months, with a lot of personnel being on unpaid leave as we speak - and they have enough pilots to cover 80% of the pre-COVID capacity. It's unlikely that said 80% will be exceeded next summer, even if we assume the most optimistic scenario regarding the pandemic, vaccines and some degree of return towards normal life. In the unlikely event that it is, some percentage of those made redundant in April will be hired with priority over any external candidate. So, whatever your application status for now, it's unlikely to have any implications on your near future.

Totally agree, things are going back to normal at a really slow process, the good news about the vaccine mean it will be over sooner than later, but when the demand to fly start, all the pilots that were made redundant will be the 1st ones to enter, however with the max certified in FAA and hope soon in Europe companies will need pilots (eventhough wizz has Airbus) and if the vaccine is as effective as they said restrictions will be softer and more people will fly, let's see and hope for the best

How does that remotely contribute to this thread? I was very clear that I understand the current situation, however Wizzair's website said they were recruiting, so I applied, knowing that I had only a fool's hope. I was just checking if anyone knew anything about the way the process works seeing as I never heard anything (good or bad) from the airline apart from what's on my portal.

I can't remember whether the application asked for country of licence issue, but I'm wondering if maybe the rejection was because I have a UK CAA licence, not (as of 6 weeks ago) EASA. It seems utter madness to me that there isn't cross-recognition of licences, especially for those issued before the end of the transition period when all training was done under EASA regulations. It seems a political rather than practical decision, but that's a topic for a different thread...

Was there a question about where you want to be based? I believe they might be recruiting only for their Abu Dhabi base, but maybe there are residency requirements for that.
