Is there anybody else hesitant for the reason that the program goes for a MPL instead of a CPL?

I doubt it! If it was a self-sponsored MPL there might be reasons for hesitation.

Hi Johnny,

thanks for the reminder. I was confused by the term "exercise" - but this makes sense now :-)

Best of luck!

Somebody on boards.ie posted that they've just received a call to attend the session next Monday. There's still hope!

I don't see any issue with them choosing the MPL it's aimed at training pilots how to work as a multicrew rather than doing ppl etc as this is not a requirement to fly an Airbus

MPL shorter and cheaper for airlines. Can you even do a self-sponsored MPL? They are run by airlines to get their cadets into the plane asap.

That's my point. I am not arguing the suitability of an MPL from the airline's POV. I am wondering about whether is it a better possibility for us than a CPL, cause I confess I am an ignorant regarding the MPL.

They pay for it so yeah. If you're training yourself you will be doing the ATPL.

What do you mean by the ATPL? for the MPL you have to complete the same ATPL theory than for the CPL, isn't it? As for the licenses, CPL and MPL, you get an ATPL when you reach requisites with either of both licenses, am I wrong?
Afaik, the MPL differs from the CPL (both in its modular or integrated variants for the CPL) in the sense that it requires less hours of real flight, and more of simulators. As well as that your whole MPL is linked to the airline and, if you move before getting the ATPL, you lose everything.

Correct me if I an wrong, please.

An MPL can not be self sponsored. You can only do an MPL with an airline, and then your license is specifically for that airline on that aircraft until such a time as you meet the requirements to unfreeze at which time it does become an ATPL. But until then, you are restricted to that airline and that aircraft (as far as I know, you can't take the type rating to another airline but they are so new I am not sure this has ever been tested)

In either case the ground school (14 ATPL subjects) are the same.

That's assesments over for this week. Total 236 to assesments this year out of 7800 applicants.

18 spaces, 3 courses (x2 November, x1 Jan).

Friend of mine questioned if it was MPL or ATPL and was told it was yet undecided.

Pretty pleased with the accuracy of my analysis! Cheers for the update, surprised their considering the ATPL route.

I've still not had a 'no' email yet, checked both my main inbox and spam folder as well. Bit strange because I'm definitely expecting a 'no' considering all of the assessments are currently underway. Maybe expecting one next week, even though it's almost implied at this stage?
