Just curious, did anyone get offered a date outside of the 23rd to the 27th?

I got called on the 2nd so only a day or two after people started popping up saying they had their call and the dates I was offered at the time were 24th-27th.

So my impression from this would be that it is only that particular week they are running assesments, especially keeping in mind that assesments are being done at a hotel. I suspect the dates on the website are the range in which the interview dates could have occured and not actually the entire assesment period.

I was called on the 2nd and my assessment date is the 19th. My surname starts with a W, and I'm from Scotland, if that helps.

In the same boat as you. It's an anxious wait isn't it!

Does anyone know if we get shortlisted after the group exercise for the interviews? Or is EVERYONE attending the assessment having an interview? It rings a bell that in previous years people got shortlisted after the group exercise.

how do you wear up

This is the first time I take part on such an assessment.
I am wondering about how I should dress up… will I be underdressed in some white shirt and black trousers? And how about colors?

Thanks for any tips or experiences!

Good luck to all those with Interviews. Make the most of it!

I'm trying to mentally check out now, just don't see how those of us who haven't heard anything have much of a chance now given the set dates of assessment weeks

Still in the no email no call camp. Just sent an email asking for a follow up and lets see what they have so say. Perhaps my rejection email might be on the way

Last time round they shortlisted people from the group. So in the morning you had the group stuff, then if you met what they were after they kept you for the afternoon. If not then you were sent home after lunch. They arrived after lunch and called out a list of names who had to follow one staff member and the ones not called remained in the canteen/kitchen. This was how they split the ones who passed the morning and ones who didn't, the individual groups were then told together whether they were the successful or unsuccessful ones.

Hi Mr anonymous

I don't have any experience these particular (Aer lingus) assessments but the guy who is underdressed always sticks out more than guy who is overdressed.
Safest way to play is a slacks and mild coloured shirt and tie, nothing too standing out, and a casual jacket. Then if everyone is in full suits then you just look too warm to wear a jacket. And if you are overdressed go to the bathroom lose the tie and open the collar and problem solved.

Personally that's how I do it if unsure,
but in this case I would go shirt slacks tie and jacket because the role you are going for you end up in a formal uniform so dress the part.

Some rumour on Boards.ie that Aer Lingus are looking at taking on 40 cadets, but not all at the same time due to class size restrictions at Jerez. Might go some way to explaining the lack of response to most applications

A large number certainly makes sense given they appear to have a major pilot shortage, and more aircraft coming soon

I can’t remember it taking this long in previous years? Still in the no call no email brigade! I presume that means I haven’t failed but I haven’t stood out either? A backup?

E-Mailed and got what seems to be the generic response. Also asked about feedback and they said they wouldn't be able to supply any due to the high number of applicants, seems reasonable.

Surely if there are that many applications there not going to be overly pressed for back-ups if all the selection days have been filled. Would have thought if I'm in the mid-range candidates then I'm unlikely to get any positive news, given how competitive it is.

I think it’s pretty much easy to say that people in the no email, no call status - as me - at 99% will not be Aer Lingus cadet, at least this year, unless something unpredictable happens.
But I think the behavior it’s quite unfair as after so long, at least a note explaining the reason why there’s no answer should be quite deserved and fair.
I think we all should be thankful Aer Lingus running such an amazing programme with no pointless language barriers as other airlines do, but it’s not really fair not telling anything after so long.
It’s like getting a 3hrs slot delay and no one from the cockpit/ cabin crew saying why we are still at the gate. I think they’d blame flight crew behavior in such a situation and I think this is more or less the same
