well, as I haven't received my call so far, they cannot be done yet (on the other hand, such a statement is more often than not quickly followed by a PFO)

Thanks a lot

Hi 737ng, for what I know, there will be a GROUP assessment with a psychologist. A "case study" (i.e. the most popular, everyone get lost on an island) where everyone has to give its own opinion/point of view. A psychologist will observe you, noticing if you speak first , last , and so on. I did it once but in another sector - Finance in E&Y - . Another one could be that you are part of a group Vs another group, and you will have to work with your team to find a good solution of a certain problem/issue. In this scenario they are going to note your ability to work in a group and which role are you going to play (for instance, if you are going to be the "speaker" , the one who speak on behalf of your group, etc...). --> the aim is to find someone who is nice to work with, competent and professional.

For the INDIVIDUAL assessment unfortunately I do not have a direct experience in the aviation sector, but again a psychologist (probably with a captain) will evaluate/confirm your personality traits, motivation and if you are good fit for the company. just be honest and you will be fine

hope this helps.

If you have not had the call yet stay positive. I have been reading this thread since the beginning and was starting to think I had missed out but then I got the call this afternoon. Looking at the previous thread some people got called very late so there is still hope for all.

Good luck everyone!!!

Is the Leaving Certificate (or equivalent) required at the assessment if you have a Uni degree certificate? If so, would we have to bring the certificates for both A Levels and GCSEs? Looking for these will be interesting

I'd imagine the degree would suffice but to be certain it may be advisable to contact EI to clarify.

Got my call this morning although missed it but called back half an hour later for the good news.

I'm in on the 24th, but hoping to be staying at the hotel the nights before and after so for anyone interested in meeting up to network or to get to know each other for the group excercise part of the interview on the 24th drop me a message.

For those that are still waiting best of luck and don't worry. My online status still says invite to pre-selection online test so from the looks of things there isn't any "tells" to look for just yet.

Bad idea

You have to remember, you're being watched and accessed how you interact with other people on the day. Meeting others the night before may make you subconsciously act in a way that maybe interpreted wrongly. I suggest you just keep yourself to yourself and leave meeting anyone else until on the day at the selection event.

I'm not doing it so that I can act more comfortably during the excercise, as you hinted towards you need to remain professional during this excercise at all times.

Its simply because in the ones I have done before its 50/50 if they give you name tags or something as such. I for one am terrible at picking up names on the spot but still feel its more professional to be able to call upon team members by name rather than saying "hey you".

Which part of subconsciously act in a way that maybe interpreted wrongly do you not understand.

This even happens during training and checks

I would strong advise you to not meet others prior to doing a group exercise for a selection with an airline.

Those who will be conducting the selection will assume you're all meeting for the first time and your behaviour will be accessed on that.

If you think differently, crack on and good luck.

Still waiting.....

Hi guys,
I have been through the cut e process before with another company (non aviation related). The following is the process used at the assessment centre for that job, maybe this one won't be a million miles away, take from it what you want, it may be of some use:

Group excercise: Divided into teams of 6, set a task of building a lego model, with numerous option and fake currency to buy video instructions on an ipad, a book of instructions, get to view built model for a few moments, the exercise is timed and your a marked as a team on completion time, money left over and accuracy of model. This is only part of it as for every member at the assessment there was a cut e or company rep sitting behind you taking notes on your input/interaction with the group/ability to lead or follow etc.

Role play: you are briefed with a scenario related to the job role, you enter a room with a cut e rep and a company rep and complete the scenario while the company rep pretends to be a client and interacts with you and throws a few curve balls at you to see how you handle the situation whilst the cut e rep marks you.

2 to 1 interview: this one was tricky as the cut e rep conducts a normal job interview covering all the basics and the company rep picks out little bits of info you give and apply them to the job role, but if you change your answer or contradict what you said to the first guy he pulls you on it. Example: I am not a person who deals with confrontation. And you tell the company rep you would be able to deal with a confrontational client or Co worker the cut e guy will refer back to your first statement.
That is basically the mode of the interview where they play you off each other, it's like a minefield but if you stick to your guns you will be fine.

That was the format for the assessment centre for that job in particular, as I said it's probably not going to be identical but this info may help some of ye to prepare.

As for me I'm still waiting.....

You're very good for keeping the morale up, cheers! Do I remember you saying in a thread (possibly this one) that you got a call weeks after they began calls? Fair play on getting your current role, do you mind me asking what school you went through?
